Survived a first whole week at school. Already been lectured at (not quite sure that's the right verb, but that's what I'm leaning towards) about the next three sets of exams that are coming up within the next 6 weeks - Yr9/Yr8/Second set of Yr11 mocks this academic year. I'm not American - although I was lucky enough to study at UT in Austin for a year as an undergrad (a lifetime ago...) - for what that is worth, but I am genuinely shocked & appalled & terrified by the events of this week. I can't quite fathom what happened and I don't know how to talk to British teenagers about it. No answers here, just musing. I saw "The Substance" last night - and I still feel a bit queasy and I'm definitely still thinking about it. Not really my genre of choice normally, but so, so clever and just so...so much. Went to see "Lee" today. On the whole, worthy and important. Kate Winslet is a fantastic actor. Something was missing for me and I didn't enjoy...that element. I did cry a great deal. It's just unfathomable how we did what we did to each other. And so recently. And we still do. I have a cold and I've spent the whole weekend snuffling and coughing. How is it possible to be so germ-filled after only 6 proper teaching days of this academic year? First few days of school have gone well. We're trying to implement a new, more consistent behaviour policy and it's interesting how SLT have gone about that. I increasingly think I'd love to have more influence by perhaps moving into leadership so trying to really learn as much as possible and reflect on how things are done #Education #teaching #Teacher #BackToSchool #SecondarySchool #edutooter @edutooters

We were so far from the stage and it was still incredible. I can't ever remember being in such a positive, joyous, female crowd where I felt so happy and so safe.
