Can anyone recommend a good domain registrar? I used to use GoDaddy but apparently now they require you pay a separate fee in order to access your SSL certificates you already paid for. Thus I am deleting my account with them and plan to move onto another registrar.

How do folx feel about cooperative play in text adventure type games? Like where players can move through the game board independently and perhaps even have puzzles that can only be solved in coop (for non critical path stuff only, or possibly alternative endings).

There's a temptation today to make a retro game that uses "copy protection" stuff not actually for anti piracy but to get folx to read the freely available manual. Especially when you've put important info in the manual in order to keep the size on disk small to retain compatibility with retro systems.

Is the combo of 8086 + VGA at all common or is it generally assumed that a VGA card will only get used with a 286 or better?

None of what I was doing should involve any online services or other X factors. My computer has all the relevant data it needs to complete the task at hand. There is no reason to not have an informative ux that tells me what the tool is doing as it does it.

I fucking hate throbbers. We had progress bars and other forms of information that would tell you what a program was doing as it was doing a big task. Now? Why would you want to even know if the program is even doing anything? Case in point I downloaded UE5 as a zip file and using Engrampa (the default ux zip manager) to decompress it and it gives me a throbber instead of telling me what it's doing. UE5 is big so I just have to pray that it is infact working.

I have a slight pet peeve with the Mac preservation community, which is that they keep insisting on uploading .toast disk image files instead of standard .iso files for OS restore disks. This means I'd need my G4 already installed to be able to burn the OS install CD I need for my G4 to get it installed...
