Reading one of recent posts by @futurebird I figured out I should consider blocking Pinterest from accessing any of my photography websites.
I haven't made any decisions yet, but in case anyone needed to know - apparently it's possible to disable saves to Pinterest via HTML tags ("nopin" mostly):

In case Pinterest doesn't honor the above, user agent sniffing seems to be possible as well:

And if they lie about that as well, then I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Cleaning the camera sensor is quite an annoying chore (especially when dirt seems to be moving instead of vanishing completely), but the end result is so satisfying.

Is there really nothing else to do in street photography than snapping strangers passing by, taking candid shots of people on public transport, or shooting people’s backs?
I’m in dire need of inspiration from contemporary folks and I always end up looking at the same framing patterns over and over again. Of course I could look at artists from bygone eras, but they were operating in very different times.
Might be me and my mindset issues though.

And since now I kinda want to build my own streaming platform, I guess that makes another compelling use case for a NAS. Maybe 2025 is the year I finally get one.

I guess January 2025 is the time of my life when Bandcamp finally 'clicked' for me.
I just spent some (fairly reasonable) amount of money on PLENTY of music I've already been in love with for years.
And I completely forgot that lovely feeling of OWNING some music in my life, even if it's digital.

After weeks of losing my sanity over complicated tasks with deep dependencies and complex blockers it's nice to finally fix a few tiny bugs. Craved those small wins so much.

Dealing with code so ancient(*) I had to search for the meaning of some ESLint rules regarding the use of 'any' in TypeScript. I'm reasonably certain I've never seen ESLint screaming 'no-unsafe-return' at me.
(*) And by ancient I mean early 2020s, which scares me big time as well, but that's kinda different story.

NestJS it will be anyway.

I started building a web app to solve a certain problem of mine and I'm stuck at setting up a backend server.
NestJS I know reasonably well, but it comes with too many 'enterprise' features I'll never need.
Fastify requires a bit of initial setup (I'd love to use it with TypeScript) and reimplementing a lot of essential features and all I want to do is a JSON API.
Same with Express + it's been years since I last touched it.
Any custom boilerplate based on either of the above comes with extra cruft I won't need.
I feel so rusty and I don't know where to go.

Sometimes I think reporting every single AI-related ad I see as 'scam / misleading product or service' is a bit too much.
Sometimes, however, I feel I should keep going.

I'm tired of apps introducing "bug fixes and performance improvements". I’d really love some new bugs and performance regressions for once. How hard can it be.

In Threads, you don't delete your account.
You opt in to "use Threads without a profile".
But once you click the option, familiar words such as "account deletion" pop up again.
Yay for more fuckery.

Has anyone implemented user authentication system to a static site (think: #Eleventy / #Hugo / anything that ends up as a bunch of HTML pages)?
I'd love to restrict access to one of my semi-public sites to a specific group of friends and assign them their own user-password pairs.
I'd love something nicer than plain .htpasswd.
I'd love it to be as plain and simple as possible. Only a login form. No user sign up, no password reminders. Maybe magic links via email or even static user-password pairs stored in a secure manner on some external backend server.
Of course, I want to self-host it, I want to spend as little time as possible maintaining it, but I could pay a reasonable sum for a nice out-of-the-box solution.
Any suggestions?
(I know Authorizer - https://authorizer.dev/ - but I wonder if there's anything else I haven't discovered)
