https://youtube.com/shorts/g7Z3FlqbC8I?si=va4ittPhVpv1P_rL the irony is he practiced so hard and it’s an amazing trick irl, but the resulting animation looks very bad and unrealistic?

A bit like some Studio Laika stop-motion movies, where they went so overboard on smooth claymation, it looks more like CG and so it doesn’t stand out anymore.

Did you know the economy of #Japan each year incurs bazillions of yen of economic damage due to wrong or mismatching encodings, conversions and mojibake??

3 of my favorite movies are Blue Jasmine, The Big Lebowski and Ghost World.

Any time I can watch any scene of these movies and it will be great.

This is very subjective but.. are there any other movies like that?

Someone I knew believed souls can choose where and as who they are (re)born. I asked why, then, would there be people born into poverty or with a sickness. The answer was, a life of hardship achieves greater spiritual growth.

It occurred to me the idea of playing a weaker character in an RPG is kind of similar, as you can learn a lot about a game by doing so, or engage with it differently.

In that sense, you could see character creation as RPing the pre-birth of a soul. 🤔

Playing #Titanfall2 it makes me feel so bad when enemies fall on the ground and try to get up again, and I have to shoot them while they're helpless on the ground. (Can't force them to surrender, unfortunately.) Same for when I'm in the mech and they scramble to get away.

Even after years of killing pixel soldiers, I still sometimes feel bad for them. Hmm...

Portal Reloaded is a free #Portal2 mod that introduces a fourth portal, traveling between past/future.

Playing it in coop can be a bit brain melting.

At one point I’m 100% sure I managed to open a regular Portal between past and future, so I thought this was an option, but then we never managed to recreate it again.

Finished Decarnation and I was surprised at the relatively happy ending.

Somehow throughout the story, with Gloria's older self appearing and all the surrealism, I kept thinking the reveal would be that she was actually bedridden and demented and all of it only took place in her memory/mind as she relived her life in her head.

I suppose an interpretation like that could still hold, especially considering the club scene at the end?

Don't you just love games that allow you to lean left or right?

They're usually the ones who take great care about how the player can interact with the environment, and have a lot of things you can do.

I always like the idea of poking my head around a corner first...

Discovered a plugin that allows saving the past minute(s) as a video, like the PS4 feature. So I can post funny things like this.

(PS: Afterwards I couldn't find a way out of that pit, so I had to jump into the hole and fell into the meat grinder as well...)

When playing a shooter on #SteamDeck with trackpad, I saw a suggestion to use the left trigger for firing.

It makes a lot of sense, not only considering the SDs size and the strain it puts on thumb + index finger to have to stretch so far, but also in regards to precise movement of the thumb.

It makes me wonder why not all games have the trigger on the left. Seems like there could be merit even when aiming with the stick. (At which I'm awful anyhow.)

Posting photos of food on social media is a bit cliche and can come of as “look what I’m having, envy me!”

But I think it actually has altruistic roots?

For example, when I find a nice restaurant, I’ll want to tell friends/family, and I think it’s a human group survival instinct to want to share good sources of food.

It doesn’t always make sense that way on social media… but of course our instincts aren’t adapted to how sharing online is different from regular sharing.

I binge watched way too many episodes of the Fallout show, but I have to say: After the beginning was a little bit so-so, it becomes really solid and fun to watch, once it gets going.

Sets and props can be a bit hit-or-miss, I suppose?

Also I love Maximus, or rather the actor. He seems comparably real, when many characters are a bit like out of a comic book.

I wish there was something like a dating app, except for everything besides romantic stuff. For example finding people for hobbies, or just to see a movie together.

Couldn't this work?

Oof, Blood Fresh Supply is soo difficult, I can't get past the 2nd stage!

Cultists may take out ~50% of my HP the second they come into view. 😱

No ammo + hordes of axe-zombies means I get impatient and get hurt when I have to take them out with the pitchfork.

Level 1 has 11 secrets, but I've found only 5 so far.

1-2 seconds within the FOV of a cultist or two can totally end an attempt. ( ˙-˙ )

I've had a lot of fun with #Inscryption but now in the 3rd section of the game, I'm losing some steam. Or the game is.

It seems like the weakest section so far because it doesn't have the roguelike power-up marathon of part 1, or the puzzle-like deck building of part 2. Also a lot of mystery is gone, and fewer interesting hooks appear (whereas in section 1, there were new things after every match)

I wonder if the game has any more surprises up its sleeve.

One day, I will get into the car of someone who leaves the engine running while they go shopping and drive away. I'll park it somewhere nearby. (Undecided on wether I should leave the engine running.)

I wonder what the worst legal consequences could be...

So, the Mario movie had a simple story, but nice visuals and fun setpieces.

Detective Pikachu had solid characters and story, probably because it wasn't too stringent with the pokemon formula.

But Sonic?

Script full of clichees, but also visually not interesting / fun, no internal logic etc.

As if the inital "ugly sonic" design already betrayed the bad taste of the movie's producers.

Is "Sonic is fast" all there is to it? At least Jim Carrey's Eggman performance was fun.

"If you spend your time playing games, why not play an NFT game instead?" is what a friend said to me.

That's hard to swallow.

She suggested an Animal Crossing clone (2 star rating on app store).

We could water each other's plants (and maybe watch commercials together?)

I'm sure, whatever appeal there is to Animal Crossing—it's not in "that" game.

But I'm still shocked by the statement. I know, playing games is wasting time (or is it?), but ... but but but...
