A quick #HomeAssistant question.

Does anyone have any recommendations for reliable fanless mini PCs to run HA (x86)?

I think it’s time to upgrade from my Green, and I’d prefer a fanless PC, but most that I’ve seen are no name Chinese brands and I have no idea of quality, reliability, etc 🤷🏻‍♂️

(Note also that I’m in the UK, which rules out US only suppliers)

👍

Driving and seeing wind turbines by the side of the road, and just had a thought…

Why aren’t the mega capitalists all over them, they’re effectively free energy once you’ve built them. No expensive fuel to buy, no pesky power station staff to pay. I’d have thought it a capitalist’s wet dream???

Or am I missing something?

Have just talked to my 10yo son about MoSCoW to help explain about priorities in life.

Hoping I haven’t turned him into a future project manager 😳🤦🏻🥸

Just realised I've one #HomeAssistant / #ESPHome build I haven't shown which may interest some people. It's a small Waveshare board with an built-in ESP32 and LCD (it's also paired with a presence sensor).

It was originally to “play” with LVGL, but it's turned out useful as well.

It’s set up to display data from the #OctopusEnergy integration I use. On the left it shows the current p/kWh rate (along with today's rate range), and on the right it shows our current reported “demand” (grid usage).

Don’t think there’s going to be much 3D printing taking place today…

Have just done my morning walk around where I live (after dropping the kids), and didn't find any nodes, so I'm fairly sure I'm in a largely node-free area.

🤷🏻‍♂️ #Meshtastic

I think today is the day my “test" #Meshtastic node gets taken down. In the 3-4 months I've had it running I've not seen another node, and it's pretty much just sat there doing nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️

Whoever wrote the #MSTeams dialog text needs a talking to.

When I'm waiting to join a call, why would I ever want to “Hang tight”? Why can I not just “Please wait” or even “Hold on”?

😖

Second ePaper display in the works. Still haven’t found a box frame deep enough to be able to fit everything and wall mount, so it’s going to be another freestanding one 🤷🏻‍♂️

We've had a loose handle on one of the kitchen drawers for a while now.

I was figuring one of the plastic insets was bust and I’d probably need to draw up and 3D print a replacement.

Turns out it just needed the insert moving back into place and it's all fixed.

Kinda disappointed now… 😞

Anybody in the UK, M4 corridor-ish have any recommendations for parking when driving into London?

Planning on going in for a day one Saturday, and the train prices for 4 of us are eye watering 😢🚝 (vs petrol & parking)

Currently considering Westfield, but wondering if there’s anywhere better?

(And I'm aware that you can de-Google 2nd hand Lenovo's etc, but these tablets still work out cheaper and with newer hardware) #Android #HomeAssistant

Question for the #Android experts out there…

I'm aware that there’s various “de-Googled” versions of Android available to install on devices

I’m also aware that there's a variety of “cheap" Android tablets available from the likes of Aliexpress, etc.

Has anyone combined the two? i.e. made an Android release for one of these generic cheap tablets?

My use case is for a wall mount display for #HomeAssistant, so all it really needs to do is either run the HA app or a chromeless browser session.

Query… Anyone have any recommendations for good online courses or eBooks for learning #Python?

I already understand programming concepts, and have done some basic Python, but want to learn it properly 😎

Watching the #Paralympics, seeing how well the athletes do, and wondering… if you compared scores/times/etc directly between the #Olympics and #Paralympics how well would the #Paralympians do?
