Dear writers (but also artists of otter kinds), especially those writing smut, kink and everything in between,

Do you publish your work in form of files on various websites? Please for the love of Cthulhu - scrub your metadata! Some programs, particularly Microsoft Word really love to get very intimate with your IRL identity (by integrating with your Microsoft account) and then default to produce all documents with your legal name baked into them.

I've sent 3 messages to writers because 3 writers out of 20 stories I've downloaded off a furry website had their legal name in file metadata. :blobfoxgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:

This wasn't intended if to believe 2 of responses I've got.

If you care about separation of your online identity and IRL identity, do make sure your documents don't have more than you are willing others to see in the metadata.

Aaaaaaa, Kate is so awesome. It's super fast, it has cool plugins/integrations (Git/SQL/Color Picker are just a few I use), plenty of customization options and it's so simple to use. Been using it ever since I started using Linux daily for years since it came with KDE and it's my daily driver for writing a mod for Godot game for the past 3 months.

LSP server integration works very well, I started using macros for some boring templates, I discovered I can use mouse side buttons to go to previous location instead of switching tabs just today, tabs are just fine and I feel that there is still plenty of juice I could get out of Kate if I spent the time to learn how to wield it to be even more efficient.

Granted, there are some issues like straight up dying/becoming unresponsive when dealing with very large files or unformatted JSON files, but I can understand those shortcomings.

Kudos to the contributors, it's a fine piece of software that serves those using it. :blobfoxheart:

Dear diary: today someone pulled a "you are a disgusting sexual furry" card against me to discredit me, it's been a while since it happened last time. I have only one response: lol.

O hey look, a rotten to core company did layoffs again. The only thing surprising about Fandom laying off more people is that this year it happened for second time. They usually do that on yearly basis, guess one wasn't enough.

Reason? „broader restructuring of the company in the face of market changes, as well as a failure to hit revenue goals”.

Well Perkins, sounds like that's a failure at high level, care to let yourself and executives go instead? It's not the first restructuring you have had in recent years, you really love this word. Do tell, how your previous restructures ended up that you needed yet another one? Have some humility.

Corporations don't want the money, they want ALL the money (thanks for the quote Stephanie).

Owning an Internet domain is probably one of the best things I've done to help me with my self-expression to the world.

I feel freedom to do most of the things I want to do there, I truthfully feel like I have my own place on the Internet.

And sure, it might feel like screaming to a void, probably. But it doesn't matter this much to me, I'm not doing it for views, not doing it for money, I'm not constrained by those things. It's me saying - hey, I exist here. I'm my own person, with my garbage opinions, weird quirks, wants and needs.

Sometimes it's a card I can pass to someone, sometimes it's a place where I can vent, sometimes it's a place where I can have fun.

Also, I feel very small but visible return to glory of individual domains (hopefully leading to small websites?) with AT Protocol approach for verifying domains to be part of a handle or authorization using domains like on Owncast. Perhaps this will spread further? Time will tell.

Bigots not knowing the appropriate plural of "furry" never ceases to make me smile. Bullys, that's all they are!

If every supermarket chain claims they are the cheapest - prove it.

Make a public API with prices of all your products in offer so all us nerds can compare prices across shops, make that data available to the non-techy creatures and see what happens. :blobcatevil:

Honestly disappointed in one of the communities I'm part of which is interested in forking the wiki from Fandom but isn't interested enough to even strongly voice their opinion and push towards resolution they seek. It's... Disheartening?

Wiki communities are built on idea that community of people work towards goals. I - being an administrator of the community already did a bit to push it forward towards one of those goals. There is a roadblock, but the community members do not seem to try to work towards overcoming it instead pointing fingers at me saying I'm the executive power of the wiki and it's up to me to resolve it.

Wikis are built with the power of consensus. There always is some kind of disagreement but no one - not even an administrator have a veto power in wiki decision-making. Meanwhile the community in question seems to believe that it doesn't have the power to create consensus and resolve the roadblock, instead relying on an administrators to resolve the conflict between themselves.

This is not a healthy #wiki approach and I'm honestly tired.
