That stretch of sunny weather we have been enjoying in the #PNW sure has been nice. I could feel warmth from the sun working on projects outside at our place. But now you can get ready to kiss all that goodbye.

Good news. The MODIS and VIIRS satellite heat detection data only shows a few ‘hits’ within the prior 6 hours. Those are the darkest symbols on the map. But keep in mind that there can be hours before the next satellite pass and the fire could be expanding during that time.
The orange symbols west of the lake are “false positive” detections from yesterday. For more info about MODIS/VIIRS data, open the map and click “Map tips” in the upper left corner.

Volunteers are monitoring radio traffic and there are no credible reports the fire has jumped the lake.

I recently ordered a wood chipper attachment for our tractor. The one I decided to get is made in Canada and I am buying direct from the manufacturer. Orders are backed up a bit so they do not expect to ship one to me until sometime in the first part of February. The company made it clear that if a tariff is imposed before the chipper heading to me crosses the border into the USA then I will have two choices.
Option 1: I pay the tariff and the chipper continues on its way to me.
Option 2: I decline to pay the tariff in which case the company refunds 100% of my down payment and cancels the order.
