Finally started watching Secret Level this evening.
That Sifu episode is A\ amazing and B\ really making me want to play Sifu again.
I loved that game and I couldn’t stop playing it until I got the real ending.
It’s so damn stylish and satisfying to play.

An update: disappointingly, the monitor has two software bugs that prevent PAL signals from displaying properly and fully filling the panel.
There are workarounds but they’re not ideal.
The company have acknowledged this and say it’ll be fixed with a firmware update.
A bit disappointing given the development time on the panel and its price.
It’s otherwise fine and will be better once fixed.
I’m quite impressed with scanline emulation I must admit.

Just over two years later, and my Kickstarter backed Checkmate Monitor has finally arrived.
It’s a modern monitor for retro systems, I’d seen it IRL at OLL Norwich and it blew me away.
Currently testing it with the #Amiga and #AtariST.

Today’s well-earned Friday night dinner (it’s been a hell of a week folks) is this baby spinach, dates, and almonds salad with ribeye steak.
The original recipe (https://ottolenghi.co.uk/pages/recipes/baby-spinach-salad-dates-almonds) is from Jerusalem, and does not have the steak.
We added it a while ago and turned it into a main meal instead of just a side dish.

Is it me, or do gamers and the gaming press want to condemn the Switch 2 even before it’s out?
It’s all the headlines I’ve seen today.
They did the same with the Wii U, condemning that awesome console to its death before it was even born.
FWIW: the Wii U was (still is!) awesome and I’m sure the Switch 2 will be also.

Another thing I finished yesterday was #reading James by Percival Everett.
What. A. Book.
Written in sparse yet profound prose, it tells the story of Huckleberry Finn but from the perspective of Jim, the slave.
I cannot recommend this book enough.
I have his previous book The Trees also but I’ve not read it yet, but wow can this man write.
Please, if you can, you really should.

Just under three weeks of obsessive knitting, I’ve finally completed Saga Anderson’s jumper from the game Alan Wake 2!
This was a big project for me, I’ve never knitted an adult-sized jumper before, and I’ve never done such complicated colour work either, at least not at this scale!
I made this for my wife who has been asking for a jumper since I first started knitting, so only fifteen years ago 😅
Luckily it fits her and she loves it!
She won’t let me show her face but here she is (reluctantly) modelling it 😍

Every single day since going back to work this year, there has been a disaster on the road that I am unfortunate enough to travel on (the A14 in Suffolk if you wanted to share the pain).
I’ve used this road for years, and there’s usually some major problem or other maybe once a month.
But these last two weeks, it has been daily.
It’s starting to feel like someone is doing this on purpose.
Will today finally be the day where I get to work on time and without having to use the country’s worst country roads ever?

I tell you what everyone, all this #knitting really isn’t helping my eczema.
Hands really sore, I can’t knit with gloves on (too clumsy) and I tend to not moisturise enough as the ointments make the yarn drag against my fingers which I don’t like.
