I promise this isn't another sadpost.

I've written something that the ancients might call a “blog”; specifically about a #SwiftUI topic, using markdown, complete with code examples and what I hope can be interpreted as humor. I'm not giving it to my employer, and I don't want to use Medium or Substack to publish it.

I have a super simple website via https://carrd.co, and I can just make an equally barebones blog page and put it up there. But I know that I'd be making a minimum viable blogging engine (aka basically a static webpage with text) and I figure that if I want to do this more in the future that will quickly become a barrier for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations on other options I could use? Do you run or use a cheap, lightweigt blogging engine? (For context I pay $19/year for Carrd, and I'm not even using most of the features.)

Or do you work with a website that publishes Swift/iOS/programming tutorials and would be okay with hosting some guest/contributor content? Honestly that would probably be my ideal but I know that's a big ask.

iPhone Mirroring on the Mac keeps breakling my brain. Every time I use it, I expect it to work like the iOS Simulator bundled with Xcode. But it doesn't. It is actually so much better.

So who from the developer tools team decided not to prioritize making the simulator work as well as mirroring? Because I wish them a very “oh god please the simulator sucks can I just two-finger scroll please”.

It is 10:45 am, Tuesday morning, and I am in still in bed.

Because the heating on the upper floors is messed up so it is less than 60 Fahrenheit in my room

Because yesterday the bad clown man became president. Again.

Because I was reminded of my enormous credit card balances.

Because I’m still in between psychiatrists.

Because I’m exhausted.

Because I’m so very, very depressed. Again.

I am looking for a new #iOS or #swift dev/engineer position. The only major sticking point is that it has to be remote-friendly. I bought a house less than a year ago and I can't move again so soon.

Happy to share work history and such with anyone who is interested. Also if anyone has an indie or personal project and needs some contract or even volunteer dev help I'd be happy to pitch in.

My company is trying to increase engagement or whatever up on the Linkedin, to the point that if we hit 5000 "followers" we get an extra day of off this holiday.

To that end I wrote a simple, kind of silly and hopefully somewhat entertaining “what even is AI really" blog post that should hopefully be a decent primer for the everyday reader.

Hoping that some of my #swift programmer friends can point me in the right direction.

I have a protocol A, which requires conformance to View, and a second protocol B that inherits from A and adds more stuff. I then need multiple #swiftui Views that conform to B. All of them have the exact same init and even body, but some properties vary.

Is there a way I can create a default init and body shared by all of structs conforming to B? Is this the wrong approach?

There comes a dangerous time in every nerd's life where they consider the idea of getting into soldering.

TIL that the bundle identifier for the Messages app on the Mac (probably iOS/iPadOS too because I think they're all the same codebase these days) is com.apple.MobileSMS.

This is silly now but will become increasingly hilarious as time goes on.

I’ve recently dipped my toes in the world of mechanical keyboards, 100% the fault of @robb’s blogs about using and customizing his 8BitDo keyboard (https://rknight.me/blog/things-i-like-8bitdo-keycaps/) and not at all because I was looking for an excuse to do so anyway of course. 😅

I just got the NYXI Striker Gamecube inspired keyboard (on sale for the next 40 hours or so: https://nyxigame.com/products/wireless-mechanical-keyboard-nyxi-striker) and I really like it.

Very quiet, has macOS glyphs on the front side of the caps, and generally feels very nice.

Wondering if @caseyliss will become as much of a devotee as he is with the standard ffmpeg 🤔

I think my cat's sinuses might technically qualify as a Tardis, because she just sneezed out the most massive bundle of snot I've ever seen.

No pictures because I didn't think to and also I didn't want to inflict it on anyone else.

Hypothetical question: you ever watch a video about the symptoms of burnout, but you kind of scoff like “whatever, I feel most of those things frequently, and at least for the last 15 years or so" and then your eyes kind of widen and you get sad?

I m-mean, me neither. It was just hypothetical.
