Good news for #trans folks out of #Illinois! They are doing away with the requirement to publish your name change and home address in a local newspaper when changing your name! This will help keep trans people safe.

The law goes into effect March 1st 2025.

Previously you could file a motion to skip that step, but you had to fill out paperwork, a petition the judge. It was not guaranteed.

All states need to do this!

So there is this cool thing you can do if you have #MetaText app for Fedi on iOS. You can go to the profile of someone you follow, tap the ... icon in the top right corner of their profile, and you will see the option to hide boosts if you want.

This might work on other apps, on Android, or just in web browsers, I have not tested it so not sure. If you know, please comment? #FediTips #HideBoosts

This is the part that is worrying me the most right now. I am concerned we should begin spreading the word for folks with X on their documents to not travel right now, even between states, or simply driving on the interstate, or risk being detained, whatever that means.
