The federated, Instagram-like Pixelfed is blowing up right now!

You can certainly sign up for a Pixelfed server. But you can also follow people on Pixelfed from your Mastodon account, too.

It's the same process. Search for @username@server.example, hit follow, and you get to see images posted to Pixelfed, comment on them, boost them -- all the same things you can do on Mastodon.

That's the power of federation!

Hey, AoIRfriends, just a reminder that you can use "content warnings" (in the web interface, the triangle with !) for posts dealing with politics. For example, "uspol" for discussions of the election.

As others have noted, you actually will reach more people using them because folks looking for those discussions will find them right away, and you're more likely to be boosted. It's a bit different from Twitter in that regard.

Also, let me also remind you about alt text for images 😀

Hey, AOIRFriends! Please don't forget to add alt text to your images. Do it not just because that helps with accessibility -- also do it for reach! Many folks on the fediverse avoid boosting images without alt text.
