Okay, someone calls themselves a "certified knitting instructor" or a "certified crochet teacher" and I wonder - certified by whom? And where's their certificate?
(Do they even know what "certified" means?)

Current frustration: my long (30cm) wooden 4.5mm needles are too grippy, and my short (25cm) aluminium 4.5mm needles are too short for my current WIP.
I know many people love wood and bamboo needles, but I have very tight tension on my knit stitches (even though I have improved) and I find grippy needles very frustrating.
I'm sure I would love my nice wooden needles if I was working with slippery yarn, but current yarn is not slippery.
FRUSTRATION!

Pro tip: if you are going to re-do a project immediately, don't frog it all at once; frog it as you go, pulling out the yarn as you use it.

[#]WIPWednesday My Fluffy Blanket is DONE! For the third (and hopefully last) time. It started unravelling in the middle, so I frogged it and re-did it.
Eyelash/fur yarn is so difficult to work with, but this yarn is irresistable: not only is it superbly soft, but it is two-tone, with the part closest to the core being a dark brown, and the tips are a brownish-cream - like a Siamese cat.
This blanket is double-knit on a knitting loom (best way of guaranteeing you don't drop a stitch) and the edges are crocheted with seed-stitch (a good way of crocheting when YOU CANNOT SEE THE STITCHES because of ALL THE FUR).
YES the rectangle is WONKY. I DON'T CARE, I'm not going to re-do this blanket again!

Breaking through the crust
Of silted-up dreams, flows an
Imagined river
(The title for this art piece burst on me this morning: "Imagined River", and when I realised it was five syllables, I had to make a haiku, and when I checked today's prompt, I realised I could make it fit the prompt too - good stuff all around.)

How has the Portuguese knitting been going for me? Well, purls are easier than knits, that's for sure. My tension is still all uneven, I think maybe I'll need to do something like knit an entire scarf in order to get in enough practice to improve.
Any folks experienced with Portuguese Knitting who have any tips?

So... I've been looking into Portuguese Knitting. Tried making my own "knitting pin" but I found that doing the method where you tension the yarn by passing it around the back of the neck worked better for me. Problem is, doing that is annoying, because my long hair gets in the way. So I've been trying to track down buying an actual knitting pin, and I have now ordered one. Mind you, it may still work better for me going around the neck. (sigh)

I met an anti-vaxxer once. I was too flabbergasted to be able to argue coherently. They had declared that "doctors have been making us ill for centuries".
If I met them again, here is what I would say:
"Are you saying that my own mother, a doctor, deliberately and knowingly made her own children ill by getting them vaccinated?"
It's much easier to demonize a group when you assume that they are all psychopaths with no human connections.

New Year's Resolution: to use up all the Chenille yarn in my stash and never buy another scrap of it. I am beginning to think there are only two ways of successfully working with (super-)bulky chenille:
Have any of you found other ways of working with chenille that still enable you to retain your sanity?
