Is it a sign of aging that I typed “end” on my phone, and the type-ahead considered “endoscopy” a more likely completion than “ending”?

“The Democrats would give you an education of evil, folks! They deny the proof that humans are cubic forms that rotate a 4-corner face lifetime! Caltech professors, straight out of Central Casting, practice obscurantism and can not ever allow Time Cube Debate. Sad!”

I’m reading Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach books.
First book was written in first person.
Second book was written in third person.
Started the third, saw that it opens in second person, and thought “What the heck is he going to do for the fourth one?!”

Was reminded that today’s the 10th anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, in which Bernard Verlhac (aka Tignous) was killed.
Among Tignous’s last works was the artwork for the boardgame Les Poilus (released in English as The Grizzled), a coop game about friends trying to survive WW1.

It somehow never occurred to me to wonder till now: Was the iconic BOSTON guitar-spaceship-cities album cover from 1976 (designed by Paula Scher, illustrated by Roger Huyssen) inspired by James Blish’s CITIES IN FLIGHT?

To make sure my fountain pens don’t dry out from lack of use, I write a line every day when I sit down at my desk. Kind of a Jack Torrance “All work and no play” vibe here.

I vaguely recall @brainwane writing something about shm-reduplication (“fancy-schmancy,” “Linux-Schminux”), but can’t remember where.
Anyway, I just learned about the Schmalkaldic Wars, and thought about that.

This is a 3 oz bottle of Noodler’s 54th Massachusetts ink, a lovely blue-black ink that I’ve been using as my main writing ink since I bought it in May 2017.
Current ink level is just around the top edge of the label, after seven years of use. This thing’s gonna outlast me.

I just bought an empty ink bottle!
This is an empty inkwell bottle of Skrip, a fountain-pen ink made by Shaeffer. The bottle (this is an old one; current bottles lack this feature) has an internal reservoir to make it easier to reach the ink when the level is low.
I’m pretty sure I remember my father having a bottle like this on his desk back in the ’70s.
