Bibimbapping!!

Unfortunate timing for dinner vs #MakersHour, I'm afraid Kat's Bibimbap takes priority!

"flatpak run com.prusa3d.PrusaSlicer"

This is not a sane way to instruct people to run your application.

Flatpak... what fresh hell is this?

(Installing one for the first time... feeling like I might regret this.)

Considering blacklisting BBC, ABC, and Guardian IPs in our local DNS to prevent me inadvertently looking at the news ever again.

I should look at implementing something that adds a gateway page... "ARE YOU REALLY FUCKING SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS TO YOURSELF?"

RPI at December was 3.5%... IDK, I'm pretty sure my personal RPI is somewhat higher than that. Whatever happened to that Jack Monroe alternative RPI thing? Not that there's anything you can do about it but suck it up, tighten belts, buy cheaper lower quality stuff, and try and scrape by... I'm just a data nerd.

Butter seems to get more expensive every time I buy some. (Bearing in mind I stick to "organic" butter options generally, but right now I'm pretty tempted to ditch the "organic". I also miss my favourite French butter the supermarkets used to stock... which sounds very bougie... but I just like nice butter, it's but a small luxury amongst very few luxuries.)

Managed to tune out yesterday, not succeeding today as it is everywhere...

Trying to focus on finding the next job to lob an application at.

Getting distracted by all of the crap. "Top job for you" click "betting platform" noooooooooooope... I'd rather be homeless.

Have reverted to thinking about chilli seeds instead. I need to get at least my superhots in this week.

Looks like we have run out of chamomile tea, so might pop down the shop to see if they have any. Why am I not growing chamomile... I should see if I can germinate any seeds from whatever tea I get.

It's kinda cool to be able to just wander outside, stick a garden fork in the ground, and hoik out some dinner.

Some of these Jerusalem Artichokes (Sunchokes) will be making their way into dinner. A "wild" mushroom and caramelised fartichoke risotto.

Definitely one of our lowest maintenance crops. They have their own bed at home. Each year in early spring I sift through it and make sure only a light distribution of tubers remain (as much as possible, I'll never locate every tuber). And then we let them grow.

The only major problem with them is they grow so big and tall that they start to blow over in the wind.

Of course there's also the whole issue if the effect they can have on the gut... go cautiously I say. 😂

Sadly we're yet to actually see ours flower, which was part of the hope we had for them.

Was just pre-prepping to do a videoconf interview...

Good reasons to check your webcam view before a call number 1278: just in case it looks like you're wearing a tiny watering-can as a hat.

Did manage that #allotment trip earlier, not until after 14:30 but got a good couple of hours down there... can already feel the evening light extending that little bit longer. The allotment really puts one in touch with the boundaries of the day... well, in our late-bed/risers case more so the latter boundary than the earlier lol.

Got the IBC and other crap the workers had turfed out of the ditch into our plot out of the way.

They'd knocked my aligned slabs around badly but thankfully only broken a temporary plank.

I re-set all the slabs, got a fourth one in, wedged them fairly firmly with inherited brick bits, and have popped a loose/sandy mortar along the bases to help hold them.

Tomorrow we'll work on flattening the plot area and getting the shed onto some plinths.

First we strip back a bit of solder mask to expose the one non-exposed contact we need, which is the CC1 line, there's a useful through-hole on the track which makes for a robust spot to do this. Unfortunately the original contact ripped off with the USB connector, but TBH they're too fine and close together for my soldering skills anyway.

Then we tin our wires, thankful that this cable seems to contain actual copper wire rather than ally.

The "163.com" caught my attention, it's just some sort of Chinese free-email/content/etc company "NetEase"... so basically Chinese HotMail.

So this is rather blatant.

I left a 2-star review for this product a week ago - because one of the microphones simply died, doesn't charge (I've not investigated). Yesterday in the post I get something offering me a £30 voucher (about twice the value of the item) if I show them I have left a 5-star review.

LOL at "Attention: For your account's safety, please don't attach this card to your review."

Are Amazon sellers permitted to basically buy 5-star reviews?

Partly I'm tempted because thirty quid is thirty quid, but mainly I don't think it is something I can do, I'd feel the guilt of it for years.

POST! Woo!!

Our four specialist varieties for this year, a couple of "normal" ones, and a blue one and a red one, 8 of each.

Mostly these will go in tubs down the #allotment. Though this year we're also considering trying some in the ground now we have more ground (but pending actually getting said ground ready!)

It's probably the sort of thing you might get sectioned for saying... but David Lynch was formative in my latter teens. Obviously there was Dune and Twin Peaks, especially Twin Peaks... but then it was Lost Highway that really caught my attention. That movie also got me into Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails.
