Some days it’s really hard to make sure you’re putting one foot in front of the other to improve your community.
Other days it’s extra hard.
The destruction of the Green Line.
The massive increase in pedestrian deaths.
The abdication of making good housing policy in favour of FUD around change.
2025 is a challenge. So, I have to remind myself that tomorrow we have to aim to take another step forward.

“The Annex had fewer residents in 2021 than 1971. The towers of Crescent Town had far more. How the uneven, illogical densification pattern of the last 50 years created today’s Toronto.”
An excellent look at just one piece of Toronto and how it's being repeated all over Canada.

The financial destruction to the City is going to be god awful. The human and emotional cost is mentioned but not going to matter much to the province.

Yesterday I pieced together... don't put the qemu-guest-agent on a bare metal Talos node. This will cause it to time out booting and reboot after an hour or so which is guaranteed to cause some chaos eventually.

Environment Canada's new URLs for weather stations are challenging.
If you do want to bookmark one, be sure to make sure the bookmark does NOT have the URL encoded version of the comma or it will 404.
Good version: https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=51.046,-114.057
Bad version: https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=51.046%2C-114.057
Notably - Firefox will encode it, but not Chrome or Safari.

"Systems reach the current state that they’re in because, in the past, people within the system made rational decisions based on the information they had at the time, and the constraints that they were operating under. The only way to understand how incidents happen is to try and reconstruct the path that the system took to get here, and that means trying to as best as you can to recreate the context that people were operating under when they made those decisions.”
