I made a tool to make these nice images when I share my blog posts. All in the browser, too! https://heatedbits.jefftml.com/posts/20250121-html-to-images-for-social-sharing.html

Wrote an autohotkey script that resizes my active window to 16x9 in a choice of scales. Also works with multiple monitors and of any size. https://github.com/jefe317/autohotkey/blob/main/16x9-07.ahk Thanks @smagnusson for the inspiration!

In a conversation I said "Now That's What I Call" and couldn't immediately think of the next few words. For some reason, my mind went to "... Olive Garden!" so I made a Spotify playlist. It's too dumb of an idea to pass up.

14 colors would have 182 total combinations (14*14=196-14 for the red over red results, for example).
So I decided I'd start working on my own color contrast checker for multiple colors. The work is still underway, and I'm launching this publicly once I finish my usability testing, but the people I've shown this to LOVE IT. In the meantime, here's a preview of what I'm working on. 2/2 #wcag #accessibility

Making the web more accessible is one of my favorite things to do. With the upcoming accessibility requirements coming in April 2026, I found that the online tools for checking color contrast were underwhelming. Sure, there are tools to check one color with one background, but most companies with established brands have way more than that. My work, for example has 14 defined brand colors. Good luck checking all of the combinations you use with the existing tools. 1/2 #wcag #accessibility

In my limited free time this holiday break, I’ve been converting my Wordpress sites to flat HTML files. Nothing I use for my personal websites needs PHP or JavaScript. Lots of code goes away, lots of mess to still clean up.
It really feels good to get rid of the Wordpress bloat.

I’m still working on the color contrast script, but the designers I work with already love it https://github.com/jefe317/python

I wanted it for my work, happy to share it will the world.

Updated my main PC, it's so fun to run old benchmarks and old projects on new speedy stuff. Just for fun, ran the Cosmos Laundromat file and it finished in under a minute compared to .... the hour plus (!!) it used to take back when this #b3d scene came out in 2015 https://gooseberry.blender.org/gooseberry-production-benchmark-file/

@jensimmons Why don’t browsers have a default style for dark mode, at least for text and background color? It would be awesome if a un-styled plain HTML file didn’t blast my eyes at night.

@overcastfm @marcoarment Is this a “only me” thing or is the bulleted list icon from CarPlay vertically stretched taller? The bullets look like ovals, are they supposed to be circles?

This is a real email I just got. I'm not so sure they should win an award for any design based on this email. Company info blurred.
I wish this was a joke.
