I'll do y'all a favor and not show the horrible job I did with cutting them up. I really should invest in a proper bread knife. The one I have is supposed to be a bread knife but it only does a great job with bread rolls.

Any recommendations for a decent bread knife?

My single most important work achievement was to form and act on the works council at my current job. We had such a positive impact on so many people in just these last 12 months. ✊

I strongly urge anyone, especially those folks in tech, to form a council at their company if they don't have one.

In Europe you're legally protected from dismissal when you're organizing or acting on a works council. If you become aware of tampering or retaliation, take your employer to court...on THEIR cost.

For the first time in three years I had to work from the office instead of from home and it became immediately apparent that I don't miss the office:

Booked a room for a meeting and 5 minutes before the end, a colleague comes in and lets us know that he booked the room for in 5 minutes. Completely interrupting a secret conversation with no remorse.

Folks coming to work while being sick and nobody cares. But everybody asked me if they're safe working around me because I was wearing a mask.

I can't put into words, how much JSConf.eu means to me. It got me my first job at a major company, introduced me to equally music-enthusiastic JavaScript fans and ultimately resulted in us putting a (couple) of JS-themed bands together 🥳

Oh the irony that the liberal finance minister in Germany can be fired over night, thus having less employment rights than a regular employee in Germany (minimum of one month notice, increases with tenure).

The biggest German car manufacturer wants to cut 10s of thousands of jobs and at the same time just reported a quarterly profit of 1.6 billion (!!!) Euros. Please, someone explain this to me.

Oh and they just recently paid billions in dividends to investors.

Spent some time last week to finish my #gaggiuino build. It was a pretty smooth process and that with almost no electronics background. When we were stuck, we consulted the Discord and found answers for all our questions(1).

Such an amazing and affordable sophisticated mod. The first results were great as well. #coffee

(1) I still believe Discord is not a great tool for a knowledge base.

Some observations from our recent trip to Paris:

The métro (subway) is still as unaccessible as ever and there is no way to change it 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦👨‍🦽

Bike infrastructure is getting better by the minute so more families are using cargo bike 🚴‍♂️

They still haven't figured out how not to charge two single trips when you switch from bus to métro 💸

We've discovered so many new awesome cafés ☕

Once you know where they are, there are amazing playgrounds ⛹️
