Shannon, in turn, was the PhD advisor of Bert (PARC, Sun, BBN) and Ivan (“father of computer graphics”, Sketchpad, &c) Sutherland. Ivan co-founded and co-ran the the program at Utah that produced Alan Kay (Smalltalk, &c), Jim Clark (3D graphics, SGI, Netscape), John Warnock (postscript, Adobe), Gouraud and Phong (3D graphics/shading pioneers), &c.
