Do you use the iOS Mail Categories feature? I actually gave it a shot and it seems like it might be nice, but I just don't get a lot of personal email all at once (I typically triage it right away with only a few left in my inbox) and the lack of support on Mac made it really hard to keep using.

This has started making the rounds on #TikTok ahead of the #TikTokBan and I think it’s just perfect if there were end credits just before things went dark:

I have the stupid urge to get some obscure phone as a spare device…one of the TCL BlackBerries? BlackBerry 10 devices? Punkt? Light Phone?
(Doesn’t really need to do more than call/text on a T-Mobile MVNO, so I’m not terribly concerned about capabilities.)

@blakespot Saw your old MacRumors thread about this - not sure if you knew this or it's even relevant anymore, but even now on Sequoia, option clicking the four scaling options will let you pick all the resolutions.

TIL that the 13" M2 MacBook Air's native display resolution is an odd 2560x1664, meaning that it can actually show more than a 30" Cinema Display (2560x1600) from years ago.

When the #NWSL season is over, one switches to minor league hockey?

This #NWSLChampionship is brought to you by the 2015 Seattle Reign “ultraviolet” kits. #NWSL

Just saw a new ad during the #NWSLChampionship advertising Apple Intelligence (just showing an iPhone with the Camera Control button) and I’m just sick of this being their whole thing. I think this may be one of the biggest things Apple has done that I’ve actively opted out in awhile.

Sadly, Jordyn Huitema doing a TJMaxx ad is the only thing #SeattleReignFC fans get for the playoffs. #NWSL

Non-US pals on Mastodon, do you have US election questions or curioisities you’d like explained? I can’t guarantee I’ll know everything, but can maybe provide some perspective.
(I got the idea after I happened to be in Toronto during the 2019 election and it was fascinating to see the process since so many of us only think about our own countries or very-surface-level news reports.)

Nerd pals… I’m thinking of getting rid of my iPad mini (6th gen, purple, 64GB, cellular), and I know trading it in to Apple will be the easiest, although not necessarily the best value nor can I include accessories (Logitech Crayon, case, iPad box, extra screen protector)—anyone have any favorite methods for selling old gadgets with some bonus items? I’d mostly just want them to go to a good home, not necessarily looking for more money.
No Facebook or PayPal seem to sort of limit my options?

And for the people that don’t follow this stuff, other than merchants sorting out their custom terminal software that they chose to add, there’s no additional processing costs for NFC/Apple Pay/Google Pay/etc.
If there are any cuts to be had, it’s on the issuing bank’s end (i.e. a card issued by American Express, Chase, Bank of America, etc.) - merchants don’t see that and aren’t charged extra.

I visited Sam’s Club (family member has a membership) and now they have paper signs at some of the registers stating “We do not accept tap or Apple Pay”—ummmm, those Ingenico Lane/7000 card terminals absolutely have NFC readers built-in and are on by default, so your corporate jackass overlords (Walmart) disabled them.
I feel bad for the employees that have to repeat themselves because of these consumer-hostile decisions to push their apps (Scan & Go and Walmart Pay).

Ugh, the ladyfriend is traveling and I got booted from Netflix. Apparently you can’t update your “household” from mobile devices or an Apple TV and must use a smart TV app on your network to prove where your “home” is (Apple TV won’t cut it). I get they want to crack down on password sharing, but moving an iPad is enough to move the home location. What if my home setup was an Apple TV and a non-smart TV or projector?
(I also don’t want to connect my Smart TV to the internet 😤)

Reset the Symfonisk and tried to set it up withoit an app. I could join my home network, but beyond that, nope.

The new thing I’ll tackle tonight:
Sort of future-proofing things in case the Sonos app dies, I think I can join a freshly-reset Symfonisk as an “accessory” through Settings > Wi-Fi on my iPhone, but I’m not sure if AirPlay is working right away or I must do setup through the Sonos app.
