This past week on my commute there has been someone writing homophobic and fascist stuff, so I've been covering it up. This is not to pat myself on the back, but to share how easy it is to carry a can of spray paint with you to make sure those things get covered as quickly as possible so that they know we are there to hold the line. Fascism is persistent, so we must be persistent as well.

My plan this year was to go to less shows for various reasons, but also I just got a ticket to Slide Away in LA. I have a problem. I'm looking forward to Swervedriver most I think.

Two nights of Team Dresch and friends absolutely ripped. I liked the smaller venue of the first night more as it felt like a sweaty house show the weirdo 18yo me would have loved to have been at 30 years ago. Their songs fighting homophobia, transphobia, and conservatism are (sadly) just a relevant now as ever. It was fantastic to see all the young people in the crowd though.

New year, old problems.

Today when I reported this spot with pdxreporter.org I posed the hypothetical question would they fix this area once someone gets hit by an aggressive or inattentive driver since you can't safely use the bike lane.

Through a series of unfortunate events I managed to damage my camera in a rather annoying way so that the easiest thing to do was get another one for the parts. It turned out that the parts one was in much nicer shape than mine so I didn't have to swap much at all to the new one. All the same I now have two of these monsters.

Occasionally I'll get emails meant for some of the other people who share my name. It's been resumes, travel itineraries, pictures, reservations, even a lunch date with the CEO of Nestle at one point. Today it was the invoice for $11000 of marble countertop. Clearly I'm not the driven successful one.

It definitely feels a lot weird to say I enjoyed Launder and Swirlies on election night. I mean, I did, but everyone was checking the results and that definitely put a pall over things. It was a good show and everyone seemed committed to carrying on. I have to remind myself regularly that it's ok to still enjoy things but to also actively resist being caught by the skeletal hand of apathy.
