3 Good Things: Slavery Fully Outlawed, Non-addictive Painkillers, and Happy Tigers
In today's #3GoodThings, Todd goes out for a ride when it's snowy and cold and is surprisingly happy about it. And in good news, more states in the US are fully outlawing slavery, non-addictive painkillers are getting approved and there are many more tigers in the world.

Unfollowing people who don't give #USPOLI posts a CW. As someone whose country is being threatened with annexation and currently in a trade war, this stuff needs to be a pull not a push. I will get the information but not every single time someone on this platform wants to share their anger, outrage, or the fact that they're upset.

Really glad to see this. This is my first year round all weather cycling year. I wish I'd done it sooner. #biketooter

How did I miss "tile bagging" up until now. This looks right up my alley. https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/pedalling-squares-inside-the-world-of-tile-bagging-453912 #BikeTooter

[#]Today my plans are changing. Still doing #Hindi class but after that I'm relaxing. The shingles vaccine side effects aren't as horrible as some have said, but it's enough of a headache and achiness that I am just going to push all my to-do list items off to tomorrow.
Still worth it, though, based on everything friends who have had shingles have told me.
And really, I can't complain about a relaxing day at home.

Lately I've been doing full on #3GoodThings blog posts with good news as well. However, on days I have to cook dinner or do cycling training I skip. Before I was skipping a day, but I think I'll just do them here.

Well this is wild. It felt REALLY slow this morning - like I was pedaling uphill. I thought maybe it was reduced tire pressure due to the temperature but it looks like it could also be air density. There's apparently a measurable difference when it's cold. #BikeTooter

-17C bike commute today. Gave up on the goggles which were really uncomfortable with glasses and a side effect was the glasses fogged up much less though by the end they had a bit of ice on them.
What was interesting was when I took off my balaclava I noticed that I had a bit of snow around my mouth - condensation from my breathing.
Meant to feel colder on the way home as wind and snow come in. It'll be a tailwind though so there's that! #BikeTooter

3 Good Things, Self Care, Weather, and Stories of Happy Children
In today's #3GoodThings of course I talk about cycling and the cold weather but also a bit about leaving Facebook and Instagram. Then though it wasn't intentional, all today's stories involve happy children.

So likely you'll be seeing more of me here. And maybe pixelfed as I like sharing photos of my rides and the like.

Yesterday when the first lady and POTUS accounts switched to the new names and faces, I had an hour or so where I thought it was an intentional autofollow.
That's the last straw, I though, I'm out. Then I realized that it wasn't new follows, the owners of the accounts changed.
And then I realized: this is what I think of this platform. And so I'm downloading my data now and Instagram, Facebook and Threads are gone. Should've done it earlier.

3 Good Things, Cozy Routines, Art, and Helping People Through Small (and Big) Actions
In today's #3GoodThings it's cold outside but Todd is finding ways to stay happy despite the winter. Meanwhile, in good things from the world we see more power of small and large actions including an update on one of the recipients of the tiny homes one man is making for homeless people in Toronto.

3 Good Things: A Snowy Day, Generous Students, Patient Motorcyclists and Helpful Bands
In today's #3GoodThings I have another lovely ride in the snow, and we hear about some really generous and kind students, motorcyclists with the patience I crave for myself and a band that helped find a lost child.

3 Good Things and Lots of Small Acts of Kindness that add up to Big Things
In today's #3GoodThings I am feeling better and back on the bike and at work. Then I share more stories of individuals doing small things, that add up in one way or another to big things for their recipients.

3GoodThings: Managing Social Media, A Good but Challenging Few Days and Stories of People Helping Others
In today'd #3GoodThings I talk a lot about managing mental inputs - especially social media, a few good days at home, and then three stories of generosity. There's a bonus video at the end that just made me laugh also so I had to share it.

JFC - my other newsfeeds (FB, Bsky) are driving me so insane I'm going to have to take an indefinite break. The news (which I'm staying abreast of on a "pull" basis - when I'm prepared for it), keeps coming every few posts and it's so disturbing I'm literally losing sleep. Time to come here where the filters work better and more folks tag and hide things under CW better. The algorithms also definitely DON'T help.
It's going to be a wild 2025 hearing just how wild every 5 minutes is NOT good.

3 Good Things: A stressful day and time but there’s Good News from Kerala, Washington DC and the Internet
I do #3GoodThings in great part because there are lots of stressful things happening in the world and it reminds me of the good that's happening. Today I took in a bit too much stressful news so I am extra glad I did this. Good Environmental News from Kerala, people having peaceful fun on January 6 in DC, and people talking honestly about their feelings.
