You may not like it but this is what peak OS design looks like.

The best thing Apple could do with AI is detect when a customer is writing a support request into the App Store review box and prompt them to send it to the developer instead.

So many “reviews” are overly-grumpy support requests or complaints about business models. These summaries could be quite detrimental if not done carefully.

The big problem for me remains the price. The iPad mini isn’t worth $500–600 and I don’t want to pay $500+ for an iPad.

I haven’t even enabled warnings. Ask any early-adopter of Swift, SwiftUI, SwiftData, AppIntents, or Catalyst: going all-in on year one of this type of thing is a recipe for pain now and big rewrites later.

This sounds like the Live Activity issue I was struggling with. I’ve also noticed my Live Activity seems to take longer to load, and I even have a watchdog crash log where it timed out because starting the Live Activity took too long. 🤔

I spent all day today — literally 8 hours — getting a single @WorldClock widget working (🤞) with configuration intents. WidgetKit and AppIntents are both so buggy and opaque and questionably designed. 😞

This probably means a delay for my @TimesUp for Mac update, which isn’t too big a deal.

That means I may not have any Mac updates next week… all the new features (such as they are) are on iOS.

I wasn’t aware of this at all! Thankfully it only seems to impact “native” Mac apps built for Sequoia. Existing apps and Catalyst apps (mine anyway, knock on wood) don’t seem to show the popup. https://mastodon.social/@martinhoeller/113085442803042084

[#]ios18 bug: Widgets that are configured with Intent Definition files don't hide lists of sub-parameters, e.g., the list of cities in a World Clock widget if you turn off "match app".

FB14868064 for any Apple folks.
