I wrote up a case study on designing a DSL for terminal interaction. You might find it a good read if you like to see programming theory jargon (codata! monads!
composition!) tied to actual use cases. You might also enjoy it if the above means very little to you, but you'd like learn why these concepts are useful.

Google Summer of Code organization applications are opening soon, and the Scala Center will again be applying. This means you---yes you!---have a chance to get your project on the list that the Scala Center will be advertising:

Go make a PR; I will be!

I've released a little library for terminal interaction in Scala 3. It support JVM, native, and JS + browser (via xterm.js).

At $work I've been creating an ID scheme, which involves the intersection of business requirements, pure maths, and bit-twiddling code. It's been super fun and the complete opposite of "CS is not important for programming" discourse.

Politics is what happens when groups of people get together. It's not all nukes and sanctions. Deciding where to go for lunch is politics. Maybe you go get the curry, and the people who don't like 🌶️ don't come. Maybe you go where the boss suggests. Maybe everyone agrees and there is no drama. Still politics.
Similarly, maybe you teach a course on geometrical deep learning. Do you put your material behind a login? That's a clear political choice. Do you use mathematical notation, or do you use programs? Use the former and you favour the mathematicians. Use the latter and you favour the programmers. Another political choice.
Politics is everywhere. It's usually very mundane. But it's still there.

Apparently, basic functions in R don't handle non-ASCII characters. What in the clown show is this, or have I been misinformed?
