Do any of you feel like your relationship to albums has been irreparably broken by streaming services? I used to get a new CD and I'd listen to it many times simply because I didn't have any other new music. I’d really get to know the album that way. Now since there is always something new, I'm always moving on to something new. I don't have the willpower to stay away. This even happens with artists I love!
Getting into vinyl has been a partial cure for this but obviously only when I'm at home…

Followed a bunch of news sources here and lately they have been swamping my feed. So I used the feature in @ivory where you can add an account to a list and mute it from appearing in your home feed. Now I have a column of all my news next to a home column that is just legitimate posts and conversations. It's great.

I have a Zoom album club that has been happening since early in the pandemic and this month we listened to “(What's the Story) Morning Glory?” and holy shit Oasis is even worse than I remembered. Not to mention the dynamic range on the album is compressed within an inch of its life. The hype for their reunion is inexplicable to me. Sometimes I reevaluate my 1990s opinions and find them wrong but not this time.

Really good take on Bluesky from Cory Doctorow. Bluesky has a lot of momentum right now but for all the reasons he's outlined in his piece I would much rather be on Mastodon.
