Flying from #PDX to #SEA: 45 minutes to board and taxi, 20 minutes to fly, 45 minutes to taxi and disembark.

It has been 0 days since a stranger went to creepy lengths to track down the contact information of my wife and I, to make an unsolicited bid to purchase our Minecraft accounts.

Accounts which are tied to your MS account, and as such would mean also selling my Windows license?

Last year when I got citizenship, I applied for a passport immediately, including the little “passport card” that stays in my wallet.

The lady at the post office thought I was wasting my money getting one of those, nobody gets those!

I’m pretty fucking glad I carry federal ID on me at all times.

Fire response agencies are often forced to ground their own aircraft to avoid collisions when dummies fly drones near wildfires for online clout.

The author of this article isn’t holding any punches, and I’m here for it.

Last year I swore the oath of allegiance (which contains: “I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen“) and became a Danish-American dual citizen. I joked with my wife that it would be awkward if I ever had to actually make good on picking one nation over the other.

It seems that day may come soon. #USPol #DKPol

For the first time ever, I cracked the screen on my phone.

Positive: I have AppleCare, it’ll only cost me $29 to get it replaced.

Negative: Had I not been paying for AppleCare all this time, I’d have enough cash in my pocket to buy a new phone and still make it out on top.

It’s been a while since I finished a book, life is that way sometimes.

But today I did! And that gave me the first opportunity to log said read on bookwyrm rather than goodreads.

I’m still waiting for Notch to finish 0x10c so this t-shirt I own isn’t just a random piece of clothing.

But he won’t.

He also won’t actually finish any kind of Minecraft successor.

Libraries are fucking amazing. More shit like that please, and less trying to sell each other on things.

Does the definition work in reverse?

Can we each get $100B if we prove to MS our brains have developed intelligence?

I realized earlier that I haven’t actually watched #DieHard in my adult life, so tonight we did.

What a fun Christmas movie.

Come at me haters.

@ludicity Thank you! For taking an honest stand against the everspewing bullshit that is the AI gravy train.

It was starting to feel a little claustrophobic working in the technology industry, until your post showed me that I am not alone with my distaste for the GenAI stuff. Thank you for that!

@ben Thank you for working hard to make journalism better. In a world where so many of us have given up on the field as a whole, you haven’t stopped pushing forward.

I hope so dearly that we may live in a world of more reputable, honest, and informative news in the future.

@are0h Man. I don’t always get you, but I know you work tirelessly at making the fediverse better for people who aren’t like me.

Thank you for that. I’m sure those people need a champion like you, let’s be real, people like me probably aren’t picking up the baton and doing the work.

But you are, thank you.

@mekkaokereke @StillIRise1963 You both force me to face some really uncomfortable stuff about the industry I work in, and the country I live in.

Your posts sometimes make me angry, they make me uncomfortable.

Thank you for that, I need that. We need that if we’re ever going to learn to be better towards each other.

Please don’t ever stop.

@cwebber and @evan Thank you for ActivityPub! I can only

Imagine how hard you worked to make it happen, but you did it.

It gives me hope for our technological future, that people like you are working to advance our fabric of open, interconnected, standards.

Given that today is #Thanksgiving in the US, I want to take some time to thank some of the people I appreciate here on the fediverse.

I’ll add more to the thread throughout the day, in no particular order.

@GeePawHill Thank you, for the constant reminders that it’s cool to thank people who matter to you. In these hard times more than ever, thank you for that. It matters.

Fellow #ATPfm listeners (or hosts), I seek your help!

A friend has shown interest in listening to an episode, so I need an absolute banger to recommend. I’m tempted by Windows of Siracusa County, but I worry it’s so old that it won’t feel relevant and hip.

Is there a recent episode you’d recommend as a starting point? Should I send my friend into the back catalogue? Please advise.
