Just had a go with a bass-jo*, and now I must have one!

[Update: remembered I had a photo from seeing it before]

Just on the off-chance: does anybody have opinions about the best grandstand for Balaton Park Circuit in Hungary?

Great walk in the Lake District on Sunday, over High Spy and Bull Crag, as a "guest" of Tyne Valley Mountaineers.

No snow at low level, icy paths on the way up and down, and plenty of deep snow on the tops. Went in past my knee at one point, and that's a long way on my legs.

Would've been easier with crampons and poles in places, but I managed to stay on my feet.

Stunning sunrise run in a very snowy Slaley Forest this morning, with @ivan_t_dog and friends.

Hard work running in the deep snow or where skiers had been, much easier where a vehicle had been through. Great fun either way, plus lots of stops for photos.

"Latest studies have found that 77% of raw dog food with pheasant has excessive levels of lead – posing an obvious threat to their health."

That's quite worrying. Makes me glad we've moved the dog off raw food.

Simonside Cairns fell race today; postponed from last week so the car park wasn't underwater.

Didn't go quite according to plan, what with getting arrhythmia in the first mile or so. Slowed right down and it passed quite quickly so I could continue on my way, but had lost a lot of ground by that point. Wind was a bit fierce, but at least it was mostly behind us on the way back. Not fast today, but I got to the finish.

Thought it was quiet: looks like I've lost some of the people I was following. I wonder if that's related to the unexplained account suspension earlier this week

Maybe I should start backing up my account…

To Allendale for the Hexhamshire Hobble this morning. It seems unlikely that we'll get the blizzard that I've experienced in previous years, and hopefully the rain will stop, but I have packed my waterproof socks. (Alongside the compulsory fell running kit, of course.)

Used to do this in about 90 minutes, but I think a more leisurely pace this morning.

First properly cold commute of the season: 2ºC according to the bike, but the car needed the windscreen scraping before I could move it out of the way.

Had the heated things turned up, but the backs of my hands still get cold. Biggest problem with a boxer twin is that it's not so easy to reach the cylinders when stopped to warm them up. Might have to see if I've got some bar muffs that fit.

Nice run out at Slaley Forest with @ivan_t_dog this morning. He was on pretty good form: very keen to get going, his stamina is coming back, and (so far) it seems like his dodgy elbow is okay. Nice gentle walk for him tomorrow.

… and some initial technical issues for Mollie Manders & The Shutup almost proved me right.

Once those were sorted and they hit their stride, they were also great. Loads of variety, lots of sing along, best vocalist I've heard in a long, long time. Slightly disappointed that the horn section were prerecorded, but you can't have everything.

I commend them both to the house.

Top night out at one of my favourite venues, The Cluny in Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Support act (Ramona's Tea Party) were great entertainment. Norwegian punk with colour-coordinated hair and guitars. Good banter between songs too. The lead singer from the headline act was down the front dancing for most of their set.

I thought they might be a tough act to follow…

Nice run out in Hexhamshire this morning, reminding myself what the route for the Hobble is like before I decided to enter. Only fell over once, so it's not too bad…

Took a shortcut to avoid dropping down to the proper start/finish in Allendale. No idea how I used to be able to do the full route in 1½ hours.

Phone was stashed in my bag, so only have photos of our start point.

Does anybody know who to contact about a potential issue with the BBC News RSS feed? Maybe @BBCRD or @BBC_News_Labs could point me in the right direction…

In summary: I see articles being published multiple times as different entries, varying only by the number after the # in the URL that's referenced in the field. Maybe this is intended, but RSS readers tend to treat these as different entries resulting in duplicates.
