Very happy with my new desk and chair, which match my office perfectly and fits the small space proportionally, which is the real challenge of decorating small Dutch apartments. I think this fits my apartment’s “modern dollhouse” aesthetic quite well. It’s a celadon and yellow and cream dream.

This is really quite amazing. A 14-year-old Dutch YouTube citizen journalist (of sorts) captured the Israeli football hooligan rampage through #amsterdam and subsequent conflict with Palestinian protesters and then the polizei. Gotta be honest: I do not have sympathy for new Mastodon accounts who stroll in with "What's up guys I decided to finally ditch my 10K followers on Twitter." It took you this fucking long? And then their next post is "Does anyone know if there's an app to cross-post to Bluesky, Instagram, and Substack,?" Get bent. You won't be here two months from now. Just go to Bluesky. It's where you know you'll end up anyway.

The #dutch cycle over 1,000 km per year. So curious to know how that compares to other countries, although I have to assume that the #netherlands has the highest stats. #fietsen #cycling

A confession! My son graduated and of course I went, even though I'm a cynical grump. And I had a wonderful time. Plus, Dutch class smacks me down. Should I get back up? Lots of great photos of slow-burn sunsets and oddities found this summer.

It's taken me the better part of a decade, but I've been able to diligently reduce the footprint of my online presence by insisting companies delete my accounts, so much so that another person with my strange name now dominates search results for my name. He has led a very sketchy life from his trailer park in Florida, leaving behind an ever-growing trail of mug shots for domestic violence and passing bad checks, plus a wealth of failed business ventures.

I have been informed that it is #nationallighthouseday so here is my latest find, in Zeeland at the bottom of the #netherlands, taken on my #fietstocht a few weeks ago. I’m standing on top of a tall dike.
