A pleasant social event with colleagues where we did not talk about work at all.

A week now of wearing new slippers with good heel and arch support. Why didn’t I get these months ago?

Got in the zone and did still more web page updates for work. A little bit of soothing entropy fighting.

It’s not a teaching day, but I accomplished a long list of work tasks. (Coordinated the itineraries of several campus visitors, online meetings with two dissertators, committee work evaluating a colleague, fixed a bunch of departmental web pages.)

More clean laundry.

It’s Friday! I’m ready to find something pleasantly distracting to view. (Maybe Dan Da Dan?)

Okay, #Monsterdon, Piranha it is. (Honestly, I truly expected both quicksand and piranhas to play a much bigger part of my adult life, thanks to all the Speed Racer and other action media I consumed as a kid.)

Spoiled by some weekend B-movie bingeing via the Sci-Fi Creatures 4-Movie Set rented from the library, which contained some surprisingly good films. I suspect tonight’s Bee Girls is going to suffer in comparison :) #Monsterdon

Three more students added into my intro class since yesterday. So a full third of the class has not attended yet. So much for making an engaging first-day experience! By the last day to add, we will have had two and a half weeks of a first day for someone in class each day. #pedagogy

The first day of class was largely a success. Everyone showed up, even in a super-hard-to-find classroom. People could hear me through my mask and over the roaring heater. All went well, until the yellow jacket invasion in the last five minutes. So kind of student-panicked shoe-slapping finale. #teaching
