Sitting in the middle of SF listening to a great horned owl hold a hootenanny from the roof of the building opposite me… #wildlife

“This is not your fault.” The subject line of this email made me think it was a forward from some large list. Turns out it was just for me, a retired colleague who remembered that I made a room of despairing folks say this to each other more than a decade ago.

“National disaster. But thanks to you,  I know how to cope.”

People are energized when you tell them what you’ve learned from them. It is a powerful form of care. Pass it on.

San Francisco. Where the wealthy venture capitalists attack the even wealthier capitalists for inheriting their capital. What are we even doing here? #SanFranciscoHellscape #VotePeskin #WeNeedAaron

“Asking for a friend” —

I ask students to not just do peer review on drafts, but to reach out into their networks and get feedback from somewhere else. It’s a great assignment for a number of reasons, usually very constructive. But this was a first: student reports they called a coworker and said it was written by “someone else in class” and they were supposed to give feedback, on the assumption the coworker wouldn’t be honest with them, just nice…!?

My partner & I have been living inside _Menewood_for some time now, snatching out-loud reading time when we can. Such a rich and transporting adventure! But the heft of the book is shifting, and we’ve begun to decry its imminent end.

I read electronically most of the time these days, but there’s nothing quite like feeling your way through the progress of a book by the balance of its weight in your hands.

Experimenting with “wetted,” “soaked,” or #fermented apples this harvest (pick your term based on Google’s translations of the relevant Ukrainian wiki page). Excited to see where this goes. Anybody here had them before? #apples

I thought briefly about Raskin as I built my 20 #20books20days list, remembering that I was obsessed with several of her books as an early reader, but the details remained fuzzy. This lovely take on her work brought it all back— definitely a huge impact on young me, definitely time to revisit these. Anyone else a fan? https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-westing-game-may-be-a-murder-mystery-but-it-s-also-a-ghost-story?utm_source=pocket-newtab-en-us
