Woah, #instagram and #facebook are now blocking the #democrat and #voteblue hashtags completely, while promoting their counterparts and forcing users to “follow” trumps account?! 😧🤮

I'm kinda tired of every C# blog post spending 90% of the article explaining about #visualstudio when the article was supposed to be about #csharp !

Team #jetbrains #rider all the way!

@khalidabuhakmeh , you with me here?

Dipping my toes in the waters of #blazor and #pwa .

It is different enough from traditional web development to be really interesting; yet familiar enough to be productive.

I made myself a shitty little calculator to try it out 🤣

I think I'll keep adding more little utilities in here to have my own little swiss-army knife of little tools

Coming from #python datetime objects, that hold timezone information to keep track of what 12:00AM means in terms of a global website; it scares me quite a but coming over to #csharp, where a DateTime objects don't know their timezone, and I need to keep track of that separately.

I'm now trying to figure out how to best implement a case, where all web app users are in a timezone, and all dates they POST are assumed to correlate to that timezone...

Today, I wasted 2 hours debugging what I thought was very odd behaviour in #csharp until I learned that async Task and async void are two very different things, and now I am very angry about async void. Was about to ban its usage entirely, but this SO article was helpful in explaining how it can be useful and not just a foot-gun

Here's the thing. My kids' #school posts news updates to #facebook. I don't want to be on #facebook. I'm on the #fediverse, and happy to be here.

I'm already using @birb for my #RSS reader here on Fediverse. Great.

I know Facebook is Facebook, and they won't give me sh*t unless I hand over my data, but I'm hoping I can subscribe to a the Facebook page through RSS or through some service that uses Facebook's API to turn it into RSS..

Anyone heard of such a thing?

I've heard the term "webmentions", but not really cared about it before.

Then I read this post from @matthiasott (https://matthiasott.com/notes/best-comment-section-on-the-internet) followed by reading this post from @rowan (https://rowanmanning.com/posts/webmentions-for-your-static-site/).

Now I'm hooked... I gotta get that set up for my website. I currently use Giscuss, which is fine, but it is also limited to users wanting to sign in with Github to comment. Adding #webmentions would be something else 😍

Hi all #software folks 👋

When you do #UnitTest, how do you organise them in your code base?

I often find that I lose track of tests, and when I want to know “is this thing tested?”, then I don’t know where to start looking.

Sometimes I set a breakpoint in the thing and run all tests and see what hits the breakpoint, which is not smart.

When reviewing a PR for new stuff, I can look for added tests. But for changes to existing stuff, I don’t know where to find and check existing tests.

I feel like #TDD it’s a moving target for me working in a legacy code base. I am constantly pleasantly surprised when my tests save my skin and I can refactor things with some confidence. But writing the tests and writing them well is so hard, when there is no underlying design in the project to follow 😅

What’s a good place to go from zero to hero with TDD in #dotnet projects? Any reasonably priced courses or tutorials to recommend?
