Any soil experts here? I've got a problem watering my garden where the topsoil is fairly porous and sits on top of a solid clay layer. Water from drippers penetrates the topsoil quickly, then runs downhill along the top of the clay layer and ends up on the paving next to the house.

Not sure what to. Would sprays or sprinklers be better than drippers? I've been avoiding these to prevent black spot on roses.

The garden is well established so cultivation is not an option.

A woman stopped me in the supermarket to ask if I knew whether there was any covid around at the moment. I said " Well it's never stopped really." She explained that she meant a surge in cases. She thought she might have symptoms.

About 2am I put the misting sprays on again to keep the chooks cool. All three were together in the nesting box, as is their instinct, and it was still 34° with a hot wind.
