Interesting chat with friend Susan. She has a template to follow; age in years 2-5, 7-10, etc. I have a bad habit of deviating from the straight and narrow, rambling on about family, the Great Depression, etc. We made it up to my reaching high school, will continue on next time. Because we lived next to my grandparents’ farm, I have many happy memories of spending time there. My grandmother was an amazing woman, who I’ve mentioned here before. Lifetime annuity. “Retirees should be offered a lifetime pension from the federal government, drawn from their savings.” Why do I feel so suspicious of this concept, especially in the hands of either of our two major parties. Is either of them visionary? Ethical? Unswayed by outside influences? Is either of them honest and transparent?

This evening, a friend coming to get my paperwork from Project Eventual Funeral, and lodge it at Quaker meeting. I think she’s also going to start asking me about my life, so there’ll be a record, rather than just the dry, necessary stuff. Not much energy at the moment, but am sure I’ll be more energised for the chat. Always interesting to talk about moi. 😁

Pancakes from The Pooh Cookbook. Didn’t quite make mixture thin enough this time. This is first one cooking. Topped with lemon juice, caster sugar. Delish. Memories of Mum churning out the pancakes for Dad and five kids, until she finally said, “No more.”

Bought quick cook Italian farro a while back. It took ages to cook. This time, I started boiling it, had to switch off and leave it while I went to communal laundry. When I returned, it had softened, swelled up a bit. More boiling, and in a short space of time, it had cooked. Should have guessed, this boil/rest/boil works with wild rice, as well.

To hand therapy today. My fracture is healing up nicely, but it has aggravated pre-existing arthritis in the hand. More pain, more exercises to do. Instructions to take painkillers regularly; I’ve been trying to reduce them or go without. Grr.😬

At Ainslie shops this morning. Bought eggs, lots of veg, from IGA. Chai in a different outdoor area of Edgars pub, around the corner. It’s quite large, pic shows one end and fan.

PROGRESS! For the first time since I broke my left arm back in October, I’ve been able to use the left hand to cut the nails on my right hand. You don’t know how great that feels! 😅
