FCC restarts investigations on ABC, CBS and NBC due to complaints of bia against King DOnald the First.

The complaints were filed by the Center for American Rights and supported Trump's claims of bias regarding ABC's fact-checking during a presidential debate, the editing of a CBS 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, and NBC putting Harris on a Saturday Night Live episode.

One executivel order to resciend basically all those made by Biden. A lot on climate change. non-racist policies (the DEI stuff which Trump succesfully demonized) and a LOT more.

Very scary stuff.

There is a Free Speech exective order. Prevents any government pressure to currect/prevent misinformation amd malinformation.

So what Zuckerberg did recently was basically comply with King Donald's wishes since King Donald survives on conspiracy theories circulating wide and fast.

Fairness: does not prevent the platforms from deciding what to moderate.

Trump orders in-person-wrok for all federal employees.

"Heads of all departments and agencies in the executive branch of Government shall, as soon as practicable, take all necessary steps to terminate remote work arrangements and require employees to return to work in-person at their respective duty stations on a full-time basis, provided that the department and agency heads shall make exemptions they deem necessary."

(and remember, if employee rejects and leaves, that job can't be filled).

I"I hereby order a freeze on the hiring of Federal civilian employees, to be applied throughout the executive branch."

Exception to immigration and military. An unfilled jb as of Jan 20th can't be filled. This is interesting sicne he ewanted to fire all non-loyal employees and hired MAGA cult members. With this order he can't.

Trump magically reduces prices with an exec order.

"I hereby order the heads of all executive departments and agencies to deliver emergency price relief, consistent with applicable law, to the American people and increase the prosperity of the American worker."

While ATMs were seen a great ways for banks to save on staff, they also stranded capital. When the cash in in the ATM, it can't be used by the trading side of the bank to buy stocks/trade in currencies, it is "frozen". This is why the move to POS sales and reduction in delendance on cash was a boon to banks as they get to play with the money that would have otherwise been stranded in ATMs.

Thieves are using excavators to rob banks in Newfoundland

https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.6612270

First such was in mid/late 1980s in Prince Edward Island. Thieves attached chains to each corner of the PEI wood building and pickup trucks to pull the wall out 😃

Stealing ATMs started after that. A good thief will wait too just after the company refills the ATM. While stereotype bank robbery yields ~$1000 getting a greshly filled ATM gets you about $200,000. (bank may no llnger fill them to brink these days)

Airports move millions of people. Yet, at YVR, YOW and in future YUL, they built single track stubs to serve such an important generator of traffic. Shows how airports really wish to hold onto their parking lot revenues.

King Donald is becoming more and more of a dark reality.

Consider all of the executive orders prepared by the folks who wrote Project 2025 that are ready to be signed on day 1. If Trump signs 100 of them on same day, there is no way the media will be able to cover all of them and some of the more evil ones will get hidden under purposefully funny/incompetent ones that will get covered.

In comparison, 3.1 allows 10/1, but Rogers offers max of 1.5gbps/50mbps so the 50mbs max offeres shows the true capacity limitation. But with DOCSIS 4. the full use of coax moves 3.1's 96mhz allocated to upload to 685mhz and apparently will allow 1gbs/1gbps to be marketed so big change on upload.

During the writing of my #CRTC submission yesterday, thre was a question Rogers' planned update to DOCSIS 4. Ended up reading some Cablelabs documents. Looks to me like the final coax upgrade. This is designed to use all of the coax (no more TV chnnels) and will require cablecos to fix any coax cable defects in a neighbouhood that could interfere with spectrum propagation at all those frequencies.

Marketing allows download to 10gbps (like DOCSIS 3.1) and upload of 6gbps (3.1 max at 1gbps)

Meanwhile, Québec ordered 1229 electric buses from Novabus (big surprise there!) to be distributed to the Québec transit agencies.

https://novabus.com/blog/bus/lfse-plus/

Note the lack of mention of any range, indicating this is still a very young product. They are the same heavy stainless steel buses as the othet Nova LFS buses.

When they start deliveries, I am really curious how STM maintenance folks will judge the Novabus ones against the New Flyers that STM already has running.

Letenda from Longueuil Québec is going to deliver a number of midi buss to EXO for regional routes.

Autonomy: 362km in best weather, 240 in cold weather. That is quite a difference.

https://letenda.com/en/

At bottom of home page are a number of aluninium related logos. Companies like Novabus that retrofit heavy steel buses with batteris end up makkng very heavy buses that require move power to accelerate. If this Letenda is built of aluminium, it would be much lighter and more efficient.
