I can't understand why, even in this moment, the Democratic members of Congress still haven't figured out that you don't get to wield the levers of power without first wielding the levers of public opinion.
They've never understood that convincing the public they're right is an all-the-time thing, not a campaign-season thing.
They should be on every talk show on every network talking 24/7 about the ongoing #coup.
Instead they're sending out fundraising emails.

Should be a law: if you run a web app that stores user data behind a login, you are required either to allow users to scrape their data (no anti-scraping tech blocking authenticated users) or to provide an API they can use to access it at no additional charge.
It should literally be illegal to lock users data into your site and prevent them from implementing their own automation to access it.

To the extent that the DNC still means anything, we need #progressive leadership. #Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (#DFLP) has demonstrated to the rest of the country how to use the levers of power to advance a progressive agenda and how not to back down in the face of #fascist #GOP opposition.
There's a hard battle ahead. Martin is a good person to help lead the fight.

I'm not really sure why this idiot thought it would be a good idea to try to sell a web-scraping service whose explicit purpose is to illegally circumvent anti-scraping protections to someone who does information security and privacy for the U.S. government. I blocked him immediately after taking these screenshots.

I could spend many hours rewriting all my bespoke backup tools to work with compressed backups (they're complicated because my backups are encrypted) and writing new tools to manage the union backend.
And I would save maybe a few dollars a month in storage costs. If I'm lucky I might even recoup my time investment before I die.
Rationally, this is clearly not worth doing. But I had to stare myself down for 15 minutes to stop myself from doing it just because it would be cool.

Today it suddenly occurred to me, "Hmm, I bet #rclone supports a compression backend. If so, then I could be compressing my cloud backups to save on storage costs." So I went and looked it up, and indeed it does, and I could.
There's even a "union" backend I could use to migrate gradually to compressed backups rather than paying download and upload costs to recompress everything.
Seems like a great idea, right? Or is it?

Mind you, if I confronted my relative on this (which I won't because they are a close relative and I can't afford to cause that kind of fallout in the family), they would deny it. But there is no way to interpret their actions and the actions of so many other Jews as anything other than valuing Jewish Israeli lives orders of magnitude more than Palestinian lives.
That's astoundingly abhorrent.
