Forgot about this small weekend project. My car had a super ugly TRD badge on the steering wheel (3rd photo) and I made a much nicer leatherette overlay and I think it looks so much better and almost OEM!

Brother Scan N Cut >>> Cricut.
I’ve been using a cricut to cut papers and stickers for the past few years and their software has all but driven me from going postal. It’s insanely bad in every conceivable way. Brother’s machine is pretty antiquated but it just works and I can get things done without terrible software getting in the way.

I never text and drive and almost never touch my phone except for rare moments when I have to take a quick photo. Also realized I took the photo around 5:30pm on a Monday and it’s nice to live somewhere I’m not in complete gridlock at this time. 😅

I used my wife’s old AirPods Pro case which broke and is out of warranty to test laser engraving settings and got the perfect engraving down. Was so excited and went to grab my AirPod case only to be disappointed that I forgot I already had an engraving from Apple. Doing my own custom logo would have been so much cooler. There’s always next time.

Sometime early next year I’ll have my own storefront on my website and will be selling various items with my design work. Shirts are printed myself in my garage and I’m applying labels and tags as well. Definitely not something I will be doing in huge volumes because of it, but I’ve always wanted to make and sell my own physical products. This is me doing just that.
Hopefully what I learn from this experience can be applied to Tapbots goods sometime after.

The year isn’t quite over yet, but it was a great year on bikes. This doesn’t even count all the hours I’ve spent on my dirt jumper and trials bike. Also no injuries this year which is always a plus. 😁
