For at least two of the trials I have attended regarding the occupation of the library at PSU, the defendants were PSU students. Funny enough, both their names were excluded from the “list of students” that were arrested when the media was taking the heavy handed “outside agitators” rhetoric approach, parroting local police and university admins. I know of at least another handful who were arrested that were students who were also excluded.
The whole student status thing is bullshit anyways. The good protester/bad protester thing is both stupid and harmful. But yet again we see another example of a meticulous narrative to demonize protesters launched by police, then parroted by local and mainstream media.
So tired of journalists taking police statements as fact, when the only true fact here is that cops lie.

Ok I spoke with my lawyer and here’s some updated info on the bullshit the state tried to pull in my case. A lot of this same shit was pulled for others arrested the day the PSU library was raided, but I know some of the details vary and I don’t know everyone’s specifics so I will stick to sharing what I do know/my situation.
From the beginning my lawyer and I were having a hard time getting discovery from the state. When it was finally received, it was about 5 pages long and nothing but documents. Where were all the photos and videos? A lot was missing from discovery. There was a lot of back and forth, until they finally sent over the footage they said they would.
When we finally got the new discovery, it contained over 75 hours of body cam footage from the Oregon State Police. They were assisting PPB on May 2, but I was arrested by PPB, and by the time my arrest happened, OSP had been gone for hours. We only just got this in November, and the DA was like “omg sorry we just learned they exist.” (not exact quote 😅)
The DA’s office insisted that was the only footage they had.
Before one the trials for one the PSU students who was arrested, they found people wearing PPB patches, tactical vests, and sidearms on their person holding large selfie sticks with GoPros attached filming while standing with the police on May 2nd. This caused an investigation with the Internal Police Review Committee. Because again, they said PPB had no footage.
They came back and said that these were not cops, but “criminologists” working for the city attorneys office and that the devices being used to take this footage are the city attorneys office property. They said that this footage served only one purpose, to be used to protect the police bureau and officers in case of a civil lawsuit.
It should be noted that some of this footage was used by the state to try to prosecute a student. But either way, this is a huge violation. All defendants are entitled to that footage and not disclosing it is a huge problem.
The city attorneys office ended up getting subpoenaed for this footage. Up until this point, the DA’s office was playing stupid pretending like they didn’t know this existed. Odd, considering one of the DA’s (Mota) was on the ground with the police that day helping with strategy and plans. She was part of their command post. She was inside one of those vans when they were doing all the arrests. She was being consulted.
My lawyer kept up her persistence on trying to get this footage from the DA and the rest of discovery. This kept up until after the city attorneys office was subpoenaed. Finally, the DA sends my lawyer something and attached is two random videos, one titled “Azar video # 13,” and another random number. My lawyer responded asking her where the hell the other numbers the DA decided not to include were, and other necessary information, like where did this video come from, who took it, etc. Nothing. The case is now dismissed, but we have still yet to hear back about this.
For folks who don’t know, they don’t get to be selective with discovery. They are required to send anything that could be exculpatory. They are obligated to screen what they have to see if it contains any Brady material. Anything that could exonerate you, show you in a positive light, mitigate your sentence etc. Stuff that the defense may want to use. Identifying information about who took said video is also discoverable, what if they need to be called as a witness?
They were sanctioned for discovery violations and Brady violations in other trials where the defendants ended up getting acquitted. Hiding footage and discovery like this is extremely shady.
At this point, every case from this day that’s gone to trial has resulted in an acquittal. We anticipate the same for the others who haven’t gone yet. Others have had their cases dropped, and those who took plea deals will have their charges dropped upon completing whatever they agreed to in their plea deals.
So, all in all, there is a high chance that the occupation of the PSU library will have resulted in zero charges for anyone lol.

Earlier this afternoon, a massive bus was seen parked at the ICE building in Portland. At the same time, a PPB vehicle was parked directly across the street facing the ICE building.
Someone who was near the building taking photos of the huge bus ended up getting detained for taking pictures. Portland police told the person they detained that they were watching ICE and ID’ing anybody who trespasses on ICE property today.
This is a sanctuary city. PPB is not supposed to be helping or working with ICE. Just last week our new mayor said that PPB would not be cooperating with ICE. But anyone familiar with local immigration and deportation is very aware that this happens much more frequently than is reported.

Well I was going to be covering two trials from the day the PSU library was raided today and this week, but both of their cases were just dismissed!
Great news.
These two cases were also dismissed related to discovery issues. My lawyer called the other night and I got an update about my case and learned some new crazy antics the state tried to pull. Both for me as well as many others arrested that day. I’ll share more tomorrow after I meet with lawyer in person. Want to make sure all the details I have are accurate. But it’s pretty fucked what’s happening in Portland.

Elon Musk has been backing neo-nazi parties and far-right causes around the world, interfering in elections, and using his massive platform to spread hate, misinformation, galvanize his followers, and target and attack anyone who doesn’t agree. He spent $277 million to get Trump reelected. There is no denying what he is. We are so far past the time where people can be wishy washy about fascism.
Musk has been vocally supporting the far-right AfD (Alternative for Germany) in the upcoming German election. AfD has deep ties to the neo-nazi movement. In 2023, AfD members attended a secret meeting that included neo-Nazis where they talked about a mass deportation plan for “non-assimilated” Germans. Founder and former leader, Alexander Gauland, has said that Germany should "be proud of" its soldiers in the world wars and that people should no longer "reproach" Germans for World War II. Recently, Musk made a surprise video appearance at the campaign launch for AfD, parroting Gaulands rhetoric, where he said that people should take pride in Germany and being German, adding that they need to move past guilt from past atrocities of Germany’s nazi era. Musk has also written an op-ed in support of the AfD that was published in a newspaper and tweeted that “only the AfD can save Germany.”
Musk is also a vocal supporter of Tommy Robinson, former member of the fascist British National Party. Robinson is the founder of the far-right English Defense League and he has a history of violence. Robinson is still in jail for spreading completely false claims about a 15yo Syrian refugee who was violently attacked at school. Robinson continued to repeat these claims he knew were false, and Musk has backed him up multiple times on social media. Musk got so upset by Robinson being jailed he posted a poll asking if America should “liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government.”
Musk has also recently come to the defense of Andrew McIntyre, a British neo-nazi who was a key player in the racist pogroms in the UK last summer. You know, the ones where nazis were literally hunting down people of color? McIntyre shared a photo of a map where he circled a mosque, he organized the date and time for this attack and shared the post with a caption that said “time for war.” McIntyre encouraged his followers to bring Molotovs, and later stated “the mosques must burn” in a post on telelgram. He shared a video of the Christchurch mosque attack that resulted in 51 Muslims being murdered, captioned with “white legend.” One day before he was arrested, he called for the killing of Jewish, Black, and Muslim people.
Musk has cozied up with Austrian far right activist Martin Sellner. Sellner is the leader of the Identitarian Movement of Austria. IMA is a far right white supremacist group. In the past, Sellners group received a donation over €1,000 from the Christchurch shooter, and the shooter and Sellner were getting friendly in email correspondence shortly before the Christchurch attack, where Sellner invited the shooter to visit him in Austria.
Musk has co-signed conspiracies on social media, claiming that American democrats import “illegals” to turn them gay because queer people “overwhelmingly vote for dems.”
Musk has escalated discourse and lies about migrants and the border in the US. In February of 2024 when the American far right was posturing like they were ready to start a war at the border, Musk played a massive role in spreading misinformation, stroking fear, and even mobilizing people.
Musk has promoted Michael Benz, a former Trump State Dept official and white nationalist influencer who goes by "Frame Game." Benz has been in interviews spewing antisemitism and talking about “white genocide.”
Shortly after the news came out that Trump had pardoned J6’ers, Musk immediately took to social media to post that there were now empty beds for antifascists. He’s also constantly engaging with the American far right and neo-nazis.
Him and far right grifter Andy Ngo, who has harmed countless people and influenced at least one mass shooting and other violence, regularly talk back and forth on social media. Musk boosts Ngo’s insane lies, and Ngo frequently gives Musk names of antifascists to target, in turn exposing all the victims to even more violence and harassment by both Musk and Ngo’s other followers- which is by design.
There are so many examples. People need to stop making excuses for fascists.

My case was dismissed!
My statement for the National Writers Union:
On May 2nd, 2024, I was arrested while reporting on the ground at Portland State University. I was documenting the police’s actions as they cleared an encampment and library occupation in support of the liberation of Palestine when, later that evening, I was arrested by the Portland Police Bureau while filming the violent arrests occurring in the park in front of the PSU library.
Following my arrest, I faced consistent harassment from the police until I was finally let out of jail early the next morning. This harassment included racist remarks, sexual harassment, misogyny, a cop taking a selfie with me as I was in handcuffs, and the persistent interruption of all my phone calls.
This experience has highlighted the critical importance of press freedom and the rights of journalists to report on public events without fear of arrest or intimidation. The need for transparency and accountability in our institutions grows increasingly urgent. And under a Trump presidency, protecting our First Amendment rights is more important than ever.
My trial was set to begin on January 27th. I was offered a plea deal multiple times, but I refused to plead guilty to a crime I did not commit. My commitment to uncovering the truth and informing the public remains steadfast, even in the face of these challenges.

While the state loves waiting until the last minute to extend the punishment for as long as they can, I genuinely don’t think this would have been possible without support from multiple unions, the press freedom advocacy groups, and all of the solidarity. Thank you 🖤

This guy in plain clothes was with the 5 cops. He kept his distance in the immediate vicinity, then walked away with them. I followed at a distance until they got to their vehicles and he left with them.

Cops have nothing better to do than harass unhoused people. So many people who wanted food, shelter, warm clothes and other resources left with nothing because the cops showed up. They were trying to question people and taking down all the license plates.
Never talk to cops. A few weeks ago at the Thursday free store a squad car drove by. He was acting super nice, telling people “oh this is so cool I love what you’re doing” and then proceeded to try to ask people questions, still in a “friendly” way, like “how often does this happen?” and “what time are you guys here?” He was just trying to get intel. The next Thursday they drove by again, slowly, and this time filming everyone.
Then the escalation today.
