Ik heb even aan een uitstekende schaaktrainer om commentaar gevraagd. Hij zei dit over het "bijna schaakmat staan van Norris" :

"Niet echt. Ik heb even de stelling gemaakt die hij omschrijft. Norris (zwart) staat schaak, er staan allemaal pionnen om hem heen maar hij staat niet mat, hij kan nog één pion slaan. Toch zal hij het onherroepelijk verliezen en zelfs bij het slechtste spel van Max (wit) is remise gelijkspel nog het hoogst haalbare voor Norris."

Ik schrok van de beschrijving van de staat het Nederlandse onderwijs. Vooral de tendens om kinderen met bepaalde moeilijkheden in een speciale school te zetten. Uitsluiten in plaats van insluiten, zodat mijn "normale" kinderen niet "gehinderd worden in hun ontwikkeling. Bijzonder schadelijk voor alle kinderen. 3-daagse schoolweek vanwege gebrek aan onderwijzers, obsessie met training voor testen. Nu kan ik de commercials plaatsen die ik wel eens op Radio1/2/5 hoor over, bijvoorbeeld, hulp bij het leren van wiskunde.

De tendens, de afgelopen 10 jaar, in Chili is juist het tegenovergestelde, meer insluiting, "inclusión", met speciaal getrainde docenten om in dezelfde klas leerlingen met moeilijkheden bij te staan, afbouwen van het trainen van kinderen om testen te halen, enz. Een lange weg om de negatieve invloeden van een hyper neoliberale economie om te buigen. Ook hier worstelen we met een lerarentekort, een hardnekkig probleem.
