HT to Max Dubler

Colorado housing is not expensive because we are running out of land. You can get a pretty cheap house on the eastern plains.

Colorado housing is expensive because we use zoning to cap the number of homes that can be built in the places with jobs and economic opportunity.

[#]denver has an arguably enviable protected #bike lane network downtown but the DOT seems to take no pride in it.

drivers in this country are so coddled and catered to that we plow parking lots before we plow sidewalks or bike lanes, if at all

dimwits in #denver are trying to widen pena instead of pointing out that the a-line exists

"Even if they do widen Pena, ... the airport cannot handle very many more cars. The ... ramps are close to maxed out at peak times.

The city needs to work with RTD and the airlines to make the A line the default way to get to DIA. Add real check in counters on the train platform at DIA, include your train fare in your airline ticket, and obviously double tracks with 5-6 minutes between trains"

hundred year #copyright is just another way that corporations mine resources, in this case our literal culture. by the time something enters copyright its cultural context and usefulness (and oftentimes the memory of it at all) is destroyed and nothing can be built from it. copyright should be twenty-one years, so that people can create and remix while works of art still have the chance to be relevant. we're cutting out whole branches of culture for shareholder profit.

it makes me crazy that citizens, business owners, and local politicians don't understand that if i, a person who lives in denver, buy a $60k car, that's $60k that leaves the city and state. and yet each of these groups does everything they can to subsidize me to send my money out of state. 🤯

Every safety, transit, and bike project in Denver starts with a parking survey, proving that safety, transit, and biking are all secondary goals to parking preservation. If it were otherwise, a parking survey wouldn’t be necessary because doti would design and build infrastructure matching the need of the project, not the need for drivers to store their cars for free on public property.

okay, see this? the shark teeth markings are directly in front of the area where care is needed, unlike the american implementation where the markings are twenty feet in front, making them useless.

just because suburbs downzone themselves doesn't mean the cities that support them should strive to accommodate or emulate them. central cities should not tear themselves to pieces trying to make room for commuters who hate being there. build cities for people who like cities and watch your city succeed.
