Cool, I didn't realize that being on #GlobalTalk meant you'd get The Onion sent straight to your ImageWriter!

Success! @billgoats has the honor of being the first person to print to the #ImageScribbler over #GlobalTalk!

To anyone with #GlobalTalk set up: I have my GlobalTalk router up (home.polpo.org, network range 600-600, zone name "the polpo zone"). Can anyone with GlobalTalk set up see a ImageWriter named ImageScribbler on it (and hopefully print something to it)?
It's behind a Farallon iPrint Ethernet to LocalTalk bridge.

Got the LocalTalk option clone stable by replicating Apple's factory bodge on the -B version of the card that tweaks the reset circuit! #ImageScribbler

Last night I tested my reverse engineered ImageWriter II/LQ LocalTalk Option card and it mostly worked after a lot of trial/error - turned out I needed to clone the NVSRAM from the original board. Way more testing still ahead especially around chip variants to make a cost reduced SMT version. #ImageScribbler

I’m trying to get to the bottom of why #PicoGUS has issues being detected in Win9x so I’m diving into the Windows 95 DDK. It comes with the source for the WSS driver and with some difficulty I got it to compile and I can debug it with an attached serial terminal. Pretty fun

We took off from Anchorage right after midnight and were treated to an amazing show of the aurora borealis for most of our trip back home! I’ve never been able to see aurora with my naked eye before so this was really special. I didn’t quite realize how much it moves.

There are a couple unused patterns in Purple Motion's Starshine. They don't really fit in with the rest of the song but they sound pretty epic on their own! (testing Windows Sound System emulation on #PicoGUS, through Impulse Tracker)

I finally found the last sticker I wanted to put on my tool drawers (Live Laugh LocalTalk by @billgoats)! I’ve been collecting and I didn’t really have anything to stick them to until I got these drawers. I had so many stickers stashed up they overflowed to one of the sides.

[#]PicoGUS is starting to gain Sound Blaster 16 support. It's kinda rough at this point (stereo flips, DMA interval is constant so the sampling rate is too high) but this is a great start!

This one is too big to fit in GUS sample RAM but Cubic Player does a great job squeezing it to fit.

Great video on the Synthesized event at the Centre for Computing History earlier this year. I was happy to see @thejpster in it showing off the history of PC sound along with the PicoGUS as well as @shieladixon showing 3 of her MIDISIDs working in parallel. I also loved how the interviewer taped a lav mic to a screwdriver 😄 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umi8Hzdt1To

Looks like the theme for VCF East 2025 is "The Sound of Vintage." This has me thinking if I should propose giving a talk about PicoGUS for it.
