Meta is abandoning its attempt to fact check posts. One problem all social media face is the scale of the task, they can't check everything. So how about this, a prominent headline on every post declaring it has not been checked and must not be taken as true. But also a 'paid post' option where the person/group/business making the post pays the platform to fact check and certify their post. #meta #musk #FactCheck #media

I could buy specialist tank disinfectant from expensive boat chandlers or caravan shops but where's the fun in that. Also it comes in tiny expensive bottles, I'm looking for old fashioned bleach at about £1/litre

[#]UK Does anyone know if it's possible to buy basic, thin bleach in the UK? Everywhere seems to sell 'thick bleach' which contains soap and I don't want that. At this time of year the water system on my boat doesn't get used much leading to the growth of anaerobic bacteria which make the water smell terrible (Hydrogen Sulfide). Putting some bleach in the main tank, running the taps to drain it all out then refilling fixes it but thick bleach leaves a soapy taste.

[#]engines nerds. I need a new alternator for an old boat. Most online are for modern cars with flat multi-vee belt pulleys. Are the tapered shafts normally made to a common standard so I could remove the pulley and fit the old vee belt pulley from the old alternator? Or are they all different to make life more 'fun'?

Cookie and ad blocking requires getting rid of Chrome, ideally Gmail too but it's tricky because they 'need' a Google account to use 'Play'. Please will someone create a de-Googled Android that's simple to use and secure by default? As far as I know existing alternative OS are not available for Tabs and in any case are too complex.

One for the FOSS Devs out there. I volunteer with a local charity that provides Galaxy Tabs free to digitally disenfranchised, mostly elderly, people. I'm pretty elderly myself but have spent half my life dabbling in tech so I provide some tech support. Most of the issue arise from overly complicated apps and websites with too many pop ups and options. Often people will click/tap a button and sit there waiting for a result not noticing an obscure confirm dialog has appeared in a corner or... 1/2

Just back from volunteering at the community centre. Had to bite my lip not to get drawn into the 'discussion'. Veered from petition for gen election, through benefit fraud, electric cars, climate change to foreign aid. Had to leave early. #LittleBritain #despair
