[#]parkrun tourism this morning.
My second time at Unisee in Bremen.
This time was colder (boo), which meant the mud was almost frozen (yay), but they had an alternative course due to some building works at the lake.
This meant 2 laps of out and back (half way round the lake) with extra 180s (boo), and a slightly long course (5.2?) which means that my fast pace doesn't seem as fast as it really was.
Could have done without the snow on the last km, but otherwise nice.

Changed from my travelling clothes into my running kit (t-shirt and wind jacket) just before the briefing.
Realised that wasn't going to cut it, so legged it up the hill to do a jacket -> hoodie swap just in time. Left my gloves at home because I idiot.

New Year's #parkrun yesterday -- freezing cold. One might even say "saukalt".
Lots of festive greetings on arrival. Had my photo taken with my running swag of the year (nice idea -- get people to bring all their running medals from over the year at the end of the year).
Not feeling 100% and lacking rest (due to NYE fireworks stretching into the middle of the night :| ), I took it easy, jogging around not slowly, but >3 mins above-PB together with a running friend.

Thanks to @RHD , here are the #parkrun statistics from the 5K app.
My 5km PB started the year at just below 25 minutes, finished at 21:45.

After today's NYE 10k, my 2024 end of the year summary -- my first full year of running.
First #parkrun (ran a total of 36), first 2 10k races, first marathon.
Total balance, 1204.7km, not so evenly distributed.

Signed up for a 10km race on NYE.
Since it passes practically past our front door, I rather felt like I should, even if I'm not completely sure I wanna do a long run flat-out in 2 weeks.
Oh well, at least I'll have a special NYD #parkrun the next day.

[#]parkrun volunteering this morning. First time marshalling. Bloomin' freezing, but good spirits on the course.
Surprise of the day: not only chatting with my Firenze-Marathon-buddies, but also spotting someone I didn't know running in the t-shirt from the event "nice t-shirt, I've got one of those" was the best I could muster.

Wasn't quite sick when I crossed the finish line, but there was a brief doubt before I walked it off.

Nice cool weather at #parkrun this morning. Maybe a touch cold (I'd wager not much colder than last week, which felt perfect, but damper air today), damp but no rain (and not too many puddles).
New PB by 4 seconds ⏱️🏃 :)
Fewer people in Lederhosen and Dirndls than last week, but a good crowd nonetheless!

Writing slides for a conference talk.
Trying to decide how best to informally cite papers where I'm 2nd author?
[Author1, Me, et al.]
How about where I'm 4th author:
Would anyone argue with the same:
[Author1, Me, et al.] ?
Should I add an ellipsis to avoid claiming to be 2nd author?
[Author1, …, Me, et al.] ?

Note to self:
Just because I named it dummy_integer_array
doesn't mean that I didn't accidentally declare it as real(kind=REAL64), dimension(:), allocatable

I'm aware of "publish the detailed paper in journal X and the shorter 'executive summary' in our high-impact journal Y", but I don't think that would lead to identical title & abstract.

Just been asked to referee a paper (for a for-profit journal, so I plan to decline).
A quick glance shows a paper with the same title, (3/4) authors, and abstract is already published in a peer reviewed journal.
Any non-suspicious explanations that I haven't thought of?

Any AMD/Fortran/LLVM/OpenMP folks out there:
After installing Clang-AOMP (using EasyBuild), my flang
complains about missing flang1
and flang2
, with some comment that they should be from openmp-extras
.
Firstly, I can't find openmp-extras
, but I do find an aomp-extras
repo.
But secondly, I don't see any hint that that repo should be building me flang{1,2}
.
Any pointers welcome for where I should be finding flang{1,2}.

Merry Christmas everyone 🌲!
This year's present 🎁 was a new 5km PB on a Christmas Day run 🏃.
(Was nearly scuppered by a loose shoelace, but just about held on despite losing a few seconds to tuck in the lace.)
