For decades (no kidding!) the reason I've thought I can't make a 3D game from scratch has been my inability to handle skinned meshes. I've dabbled at it a few times before without much success, but finally FINALLY I managed to write a c++ / assimp code that loads a model from an FBX and ANIMATES it!
I know it's not much of a flex in these times of engines and everything, but it's a BIG personal win!
Next something easy like a terrain 😆

I'm looking at #Steam analytics for #pointandclick #adventuregames and the median revenue is higher if only looking at games with the #pixelart tag. So I assume a vast part of the audience is looking for games that are like the 90s adventure game classics, rather than new more innovative titles (with e.g. 3D or higher res 2D art).

For #TuneTuesday #FlowerPowerMusic I wanted to share a rather obscure Finnish black metal track from the late 90s, but turns out it's so obscure it's not available as a single track anywhere online (that I could find)!
So you'll need to find it from the album yourself 😅
Artist: Black Swan
Album: When the Angels of Twilight Dance
Song: The Withering Flower of Life

I have always wanted to make an #adventuregame - you know, the #pointandclick kind. Yet, during my 16 years as (mostly) an #indiedev I've never done so.
Main reason is that I'm not an #artist, and the genre relies a lot on the visuals, so I haven't had the chance to do it solo, I haven't found a collaborator who's into the genre. So,
Are you an artist who's into #adventuregames and has the possiblity to collab on one? Do you know someone who is?

I'm making a small #cpp project from scratch with #opengl and can't decide this architectural detail: should I have a separate renderer class or put the rendering code inside the mesh class?

I'm doing a concept research/prototyping workshop tomorrow and looking for examples of steam games that are at least moderately successful and could have been prototyped in a weekend. Vampire Survivors is an obvious example, but what others should I include?

I've been using #linux for almost a month now, and I have been really happy with it. I managed to botch the boot manager so I'm not even able to boot back into Windows, but so far haven't had any need to, as I can access the NTFS drive anyway.
I have #arch_linux and it's been treating me well, but I'm not sure if I want to switch the window manager from #gnome to something else. It works but there's some bugs and small annoyance, and it's still better than Windows.

Some apps (seems to be a bit random, console does that often but not always and #Godot just did now) crash when my PC comes out of suspend on my #arch_linux. Anyone know why this happens and if there's something I could do to fix it?
I'm using #gnome as the window manages and have a 32GB swapfile and 16GB RAM, if that matters.

Ok, I have weird bug:
If I have #unity3d open on #linux the top left of the screen doesn't suddenly accept mouse clicks in either #unity or other apps. Hover seems to go through in Unity but not other apps.

Update: tried with the CPU animations and works fine, so it's definitely something related to the CPU skinning.
