This is also a pretty helpful upgrade for the old computers on my other desk, one of which is a mid-2010 Mac Mini with Wi-Fi 4, and the other is a 1999 PowerMac G3 with 10/100 Ethernet and no Wi-Fi. AFP file sharing is gonna be so fast now. 😎

My M1 Mac Mini is Wi-Fi 6, so only 5 GHz, and my gaming PC is Wi-Fi 6E but still uses 5 GHz a lot. I need more testing time, but the latency to the base router is a lot lower and more consistent, and speeds are closer to a wired connection. Gotta test it with more games and video calls.

Link rate on the desk router is reported as 3843.1 Mbps with a -49 dBm RSSI. The base router is about 20 ft away.

I got the ASUS RT-BE92U Wi-Fi 7 router a few months ago, and it’s great, but almost nothing I own can use 6 GHz. The 2.4 and 5 GHz bands in my apartment building are super saturated.

Now I have a second RT-BE92U! This one acts as a 6 GHz bridge for my desk area, and so far is working well.

I don't think I ever noticed that the Calculator in classic Mac OS just... never changed? It looks the same in the original Mac System Software as it does on Mac OS 9, about 17 years apart. #mac #retrocomputing

The new Parallels Desktop 20.2 update added support for x86 emulated hosts on Apple Silicon Mac. It's too slow for a normal Windows OS, but @haiku is reasonably fast!

Someone was able to hijack a subdomain on my personal website to host a gambling website landing page, presumably because I left it forwarding to GitHub, and GitHub allowed someone else to connect it after I deleted the repository. Check your domains! #webdev #infosec
