We're still seeing increased rates of new accounts on #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon - We are seeing with this an uptick in more "Advanced" spam accounts which are a bit harder to spot and it is taking me a bit longer than usual to get rid of such accounts. Please be assured this is something we're aware of and tracking and for every account that does make it past our existing security setup we're enhancing the protections to prevent future spam signups :)

I'm going to in the next few days figure out the best way to communicate this to those directly affected but I will be closing down our #Pixelfed instance from May 1st 2025 following the abusive behaviour of the Pixelfed primary developer and creator recently and my lack of ongoing confidence and being unable to support hosting software maintained by individuals that again do not share the values I hold or that I see as important for the sites I look after.

For the most part based on the data I can see the majority of the impact will be folks on MastodonAppUK and Universeodon following folks on threads but I know there are one or two folks that have followers from Threads which will break.
Apologies to the folks that are impacted by this, I had hoped Threads might not have been a total shit show but it seems to have rapidly become exactly that.

The constant enablement of hate speech and abusive content from Meta does not in any way align with my personal views and ethics nor the ethics / approach / whatever you would like to call it that I would want for the instances I'm running.
If you genuinely can't live without access to Threads from Mastodon I would suggest moving your account from my instances in the next 24 hours before the block is enforced.

The "Issues" (Most polite way I can think to word it) surrounding Meta and their policy changes continue to grow worse and of deep concern.
Having thought things through for the last few days and following my recent post announcing us limiting them, folks on #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon please note:

This weekend other than trying to get some walking in (Assuming things warm up enough for everywhere around me no longer to be an ice rink) and a couple of plans I'm hoping to finish up the first course I've been working through (Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)) and get the exam booked in and hopefully then start getting more hands on with Kubernetes for a few projects I've been thinking of as well as part of my current day job.

Things feel pretty "Weird" right now and not necessarily all in a bad way.
I'm having one of those times where I've got so many things I want to do and so many ideas of things I want to learn, projects I want to complete and jobs I need to get done but at the same time absolutely no mojo to want to actually do it.
I have however decided (Mostly) on the technical certifications I want to achieve this year, some new related to my new role and some to renew existing tech certs.

My @protonprivacy t-shirts arrived today, as a long time user of Proton and finding them to generally be my preferred e-mail provider for my personal e-mails (As well as their VPN offering and now their Password Manager) all being great I figured it was time to order some t-shirts.
T-shirts look great though there seemed to be a failure with the packing en-route so my carpet is now somehow covered in shredded biodegradable plastic which is a new one!

Really rather disappointed with #UptimeRobot as a tool, I've had an account for many years now and despite being on a legacy / grandfather plan, finding more and more functionality getting disabled or nerfed.
I had been seriously considering paying to upgrade my plan with them to get improved check frequency and some other features but I'm back now to leaning towards avoiding giving them my money and finding an alternate SaaS or self hosted solution and accepting it'll probably still cost more

We are adding threads.net to our #Fediblock list for #MastodonAppUK and #Universeodon following further issues with their approach to moderation. I had been hoping with their integration with the fedi they might have taken some lessons from those of us here, apparently they are now going very much the other direction.
For the time being it'll be added as a limit and if things still appear to be problematic or a limit does not appear to suffice in the future we will fully bloc.

I think it's time to go and have a little wonder before it gets dark, decided this year I need to get more steps in and not just spend my weekends sitting around tinkering with projects.
