I was tired of the CI builds for the projects that I work on being stuck on old JDK versions. We already use Renovate for dependencies, so I taught it to automatically bump the JDK to the latest, too.

The GitHub notification page has become so slow and buggy. I'm hard refreshing at least once an hour.
It frequently gets out-of-sync with phantom rows that I've already marked as done still showing up. Other times I'll click through an mark something as done only for the "action" bar showing notification controls to pop up on the notification page itself.
Where's that post from a few months ago about Microsoft forcing more React and JS into GitHub than necessary…

The Ghostty terminal emulator from @mitchellh is now public. Check it out at https://ghostty.org/
I've been testing with it for about six months, and daily-driving it now for three. It's extremely fast and packed with features. If all you do is issue a few commands every now and then it won't change much. But if you spend significant time in the terminal, especially in a TUI, it's simply the best choice.
I'm very fond of the Quake-like dropdown mode. My macOS config: https://github.com/JakeWharton/dotfiles/blob/trunk/dot_config/ghostty/config

Zig support in Fleet. Might actually start using it now since I've been raw dogging Zig build files in plain text in IntelliJ.

A few months ago I made three significant life changes at once:
I highly recommend all three. My configuration files are public here: https://github.com/JakeWharton/dotfiles.
I use Ghostty exclusively in a Quake-like drop-down mode, but it's great as a plain window with tabs and splits, too. It should be public in a week or two.

Visual Basic 6 replicated in browser is such a nostalgia pang for me. I took beginner and then advanced VB 6 as a high school freshman, and it was the perfect intersection of my growing skills with a capable IDE to produce real-feeling apps.

There's probably better versions of an ASCII table reference out there, but https://www.asciitable.com/ has been the first search result for like 25 years and I hope it never changes.

This sounds really great. I might actually put work stuff back on my phone again for those rare times when I'm traveling or won't make a meeting and need to communicate with people.
I wonder to what degree it segments the MDM crap, though. I don't want work to be able to wipe my whole phone, but they can wipe their own private space and I wouldn't care.

There's a nice documentary from a few weeks ago about Kotlin's history that I hadn't seen shared here yet: https://youtu.be/E8CtE7qTb-Q. It's mostly comprised of detailed interviews with heavy hitters from the original team such as Andrey, Sveta, Hadi, Yole, and Roman.
