I've discovered an odd thing about YouTube ads. If I access a video from an in-browser RSS feed, it doesn't display ads. Going to the same video, in the same browser, but through the normal YouTube interface, aggressively shows ads, even with ad blocking enabled. Does it work like that for other people as well?

Sometimes I enjoy perusing cooking websites to see if there are recipes that can be adapted so I can eat them. I end up wondering how these people have not died from hypertension and coronary artery disease. There is so much salt and butter, it's mind-boggling.

Bought a container of mushroom broth the other day -- ingredients are mushrooms, water, and salt. Emblazoned on the front was a little seal that read, "Plant Based." I was really, really tempted to write to the company and berate them for lying to us! If that broth is plant-based, then it's not mushroom broth. Fungi are more closely related to humans than they are to plants!

My housemate is a reasonably well-informed person, so I was taken aback to discover she didn't know the OS on her Android phone is a Google product that sends data and photos to Google cloud services. And it had never occurred to her to wonder why her gmail account is so tightly integrated into the phone. I must have been spending too much time talking to techies, because I thought everyone knew that.

Since I just finished making a batch of it, seems like a good time to ask this. Are you familiar with Green Goddess salad dressing? And if you are, which version of it?

Version 1. The main ingredient is pureed avocado.

Version 2. A vinaigrette with no avocado, color comes from green herbs.
