Leading up to the presidential election and after, I heard quite a few young Americans who couldn't understand why so many olds were concerned about the incoming administration. They've heard a bunch of comparisons to Reagan and their thought is that we survived the '80s so how bad can it be? They legitimately have no idea how many people did not survive the '80s. THIS IS NOT THEIR FAULT. It's ours. Keep that in mind when you understandably get frustrated with youngsters about not having the context and experience necessary to comprehend the situation.

Looking at recipes on the Internet is wild. They'll say stuff like "Peel and dice 10# potatoes, dice 5 onions, mince two heads of fresh garlic, and julienne 5# carrots. Total prep time: 7 minutes."

Mastodon feature request: A "Lock My Ass Out" option where you could set it to not let you post for a certain amount of time, like 20 January in your local time zone because of current events. Or not let you post for like 12 hours because things are shit and you're going to get fucked up and don't want to post something more regrettable than normal.

I went birding with some friends this morning and had to keep a straight face while it was explained to a little that, while they may have enjoyed seeing the dogs more than the birds, they cannot go back to school and say they went dogging this weekend.

This is fun. Lexmark published this advisory on 29 March 2024 with about eight pages of impacted models:

https://publications.lexmark.com/publications/security-alerts/CVE-2023-50738.pdf

But the CVE was published today and it lists it as a perfect 10:

sev:CRIT 10.0 CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H

https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-50738

Makes me wonder about some of the other advisories they currently list but I'm too distracted to dig into those right now so happy hacking: https://www.lexmark.com/en_us/solutions/security/lexmark-security-advisories.html
