We would love to continue to be part of the Portland community for as long as possible - If we can find a stable place to partner with, we may consider continuing this project past the current herd we have. If not, The Belmont Goats will end with this last space.
Please share if you know someone who might be interested!

Please reach out if you have any leads - If you do reach out, please include any contact information for relevant owners or property managers. We've spent a lot of time looking at open spaces but without contact information, we're at a loss.

Our lease is up in March, and the land we're on changes hands June 1st, so we have a hard deadline of when we need to be out. We're looking for spaces that are:

Hey, #Portland folks, the Belmont Goats are looking for a new home! Sharing their ask:
The goats are looking for a new space as of this spring! Fear not - We've been expecting this, and agreed to it with the Portland Housing Bureau when we came to North Portland. Our stay in this spot has come to its natural, intended end, and we're looking for the next space we'll stay until further notice. (1/4)

That goes for Pixelfed too; it does photos well, but it doesn't do groups.
Suggestions?

Can folks recommend replacements for Facebook Groups?
I mod several FB Groups that would like to leave FB. I have the resources to host services. But ... I can't find anything that's remotely like FB in terms of UX for posting and commenting, particularly from phones.
We don't want to go to another privately owned social media with dubious business plans. I've looked at Discourse, Matrix, Discord, etc., but all of them are based on different principles ...

This one is particularly funny for me because before Kubernetes was announced, I built my own kubernetes (and was happy to junk it).

Hey, PNW folks: don't feed your cat "raw pet food".
First, they could die of H5N1. Second, it's expensive and dumb.

Hey, @coffeegeek something odd is up with Mastodon vs. Bluesky.
Here on Mastodon, I'm seeing all of your posts. On Bluesky I'm largely not; in fact, I seem to find your Bsky posts by the links from here.
Which is odd, because bsky isn't supposed to be using an algo yet?

Hey, #Python folx! Is there somewhere a good tutorial on putting together automated testing, CI, and Flask? More than happy to pay for a book if one covers this for a not-a-beginner-but-very-rusty-python-dev.

Spite-based development is a much larger thing in #FOSS than I think people credit.
"I hate this program, I'm gonna write something to replace it."
and
"Oh yeah? I'm going to write some FOSS to prove I'm right."
have both given rise to a fair amount of FOSS.
