Some conference policies don't let the same people head up a session/event in consecutive years - sounds great to prevent the same high-profile folks from dominating the schedule - but doesn't this end up with people using their friend network to get events in to the conference?

Asking because it seems like (size of friend network) is going to be highly correlated with (high-profile).

WOW, Harvard Library has now suspended students and faculty for engaging in silent "study-in" protests.
