Hibernation requires a physical storage area equal to the size of RAM. In #Linux, this is the swap partition. Partitioning happens before an OS is installed. Gimmicky ways exist to repartition storage on an installed system that are inherently risky and cannot work in all situations.
I don't know what Windows does that it calls hibernation. Hardware vendors and their BIOSes often enable only the specific types of suspend Windows enables.

Live sessions that don't password new sessions -- you can log out and back in readily -- BUT do require a password to get out of the lock screen they enable when the live session sleeps. Said password, of course, being unknown to you and, at that point, entirely unsearchable.

@Fedora 41 #XFCE is configured to popup a notification when the battery drops to 15%. Doesn't.
Boot time varies from approx 30 seconds to approx 120 seconds.
Continuing but inconsistent issues with wifi and waking from suspend on Fedora, #Ubuntu, etc.: Network Manager tries to connect for 60-90 seconds, displays a failure notice and then quickly reconnects. Logs show repeated assertions that "secret" (password, presumably) is not found, then it is.

@fedora 41 XFCE power up takes too long. Laptop screen shows 3 white dots in top left against a grey background.
After logging in, wifi is enabled, then immediately disconnects and reconnects.
systemd-analyze blame shows everything apparently normal except: "1min 39ms NetworkManager-wait-online.service"
Is that a cause or a symptom?

Same first boot crash as below happened yesterday with #Ubuntu #Budgie 24.10: A clean uneventful install and then a first boot into a locked screen full off "cloud-init" and SSH error messages.
